About This Pub
Ah, Masons Arms – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local haunt in Wickersley, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff really stand out; they're warm, helpful, and go out of their way to make your visit memorable, whether you're popping in for a quick breakfast or settling in for the evening. The food gets plenty of praise too – think hearty, affordable meals that hit the spot, especially if you're after something straightforward and delicious, like a traditional fry-up or those cocktails that had one reviewer coming back for more. It's brilliant for sports fans, with live action on the screens and a lively buzz that makes watching the game feel like a proper event. Plus, the outdoor seating is a nice touch for sunnier days, giving you that al fresco option without straying too far from the comforts inside. On the flip side, it does get packed during popular events, so you might end up queuing or feeling a bit squeezed in, and being part of a chain means it's more about dependable pub classics than innovative twists – not everyone's cup of tea if you're seeking something truly one-of-a-kind. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual catch-up, offering that balance of good times and good value without any fuss.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – friendly, chatty, and make you feel right at home, just like in the reviews where folks raved about their excellent manners and conversations.
-
The food is spot on, with tasty options like traditional breakfasts and meals that offer great value, especially for a relaxed day out or evening.
-
It's got a cracking atmosphere, perfect for watching live sports or enjoying a drink outside in the beer garden when the sun's out.
-
Regular renovations keep the place fresh and inviting, making it a reliable spot for good times with mates.
Cons
-
It can get a tad busy during big events or weekends, so you might want to book ahead to avoid waiting around.
-
As a chain pub, it sticks to classic pub fare rather than offering anything too adventurous, which might not excite those after something a bit more unique.

Couldn’t ask for a better two barmaids, both of which were superb. Both had excellent manors as well as amazing conversation. Really pleased with the service.
Great pub. Good food during the day and great evenings out at the weekend. They keep it fresh with regular renovations and has a good outdoor seating area

Called for breakfast. Just after 9 so very quiet. Pleasant staff helpful and friendly. Enjoyed the traditional breakfast, hot and tasty. Good value in a smashed avocado on toast area 🤣
Great atmosphere. Good service and food was delicious. It looks like it had been renovated since we last went. We spent extra money since we went back for more cocktails which were also really nice.
