About This Pub
You know, when I think about Lowerhouse Pub, it's got this lovely blend of a relaxed pub atmosphere mixed with a dedicated play area that makes it ideal for family outings – perfect if you're juggling a pint and keeping the little ones amused. From the reviews, it sounds like Laura and James had a brilliant time with the soft play setup, which goes right up to the ceiling and has loads of toys scattered about, great for parties or just a casual drop-in. The staff really shine through, being so approachable and even whipping up cups of tea for the older crowd, as one reviewer mentioned, which adds a nice touch. And let's not forget the food; the pizzas are apparently delicious, and with prices that won't break the bank, it's a win for everyone. On the downside, while they've spruced the place up nicely, it doesn't quite have that cosy, lived-in feel yet, which might leave you wanting a bit more warmth on a quiet evening. Plus, with the odd operating hours and it only being open five days a week, you might need to plan ahead. All in all, it's a solid choice for a family-friendly vibe, but if you're after something more intimate, it could fall a little short – still, I'd say give it a go for the positives alone!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The soft play area is an absolute treat for the kids, with plenty of fun activities that keep them entertained for ages.
-
Staff are wonderfully friendly and welcoming, always ready with a smile and even going the extra mile for families.
-
Prices are spot on and affordable, making it easy on the wallet for a good meal and a drink.
-
The food, especially the pizzas, is delicious and hits the spot, with good choices all round.
Cons
-
It lacks a bit of that warm, homely charm that some pubs have, feeling a tad polished but not quite inviting.
-
The play area is on the smaller side, which might get a bit cramped if it's busy.
-
Operating hours can be confusing with varying times, and it's not open every day of the week.

Lovely little play area that I didn't even know existed til now and the pizzas are delicious so that's a win win 😊 Friendly staff and cheap prices!
Took my daughter to a classmate's party - she loved it. The soft play area was great and goes all the way up to the top of the ceiling. There was plenty for the kids to play on with other standalone toys dotted around.
Excellent toilet facilities perfect for kids of all ages with both potty and childs size toilet available. I sat down at a table whilst my daughter played and had a coffee, the service was very good, coffee really nice and also fairly priced. Recommended.
We went for a wake so I can't really comment on a lot of their services but the bar staff were lovely, even to making the more senior members of my family cups of tea. They have had the place done up and it's beautifully done but it does still seem to be missing that homey feel that lots of places manage to find. Seriously nit picking though. I will be going back with my children to test out the new jungle gym and the food
Really nice pub with child soft play. Quite fun and empty when we went to it was perfect.
Small play area but absolutely fantastic for the kids. Very friendly staff. Good prices. Plenty of choice to eat and drink. Good all round day
