About This Pub

Ah, the Loughborough Arms—it's one of those classic neighbourhood pubs that you might stumble upon in Loughborough, open seven days a week from around 10 in the morning. On the bright side, I've heard the drinks are spot on and won't break the bank, which is always a plus when you're out for a casual catch-up. The karaoke sessions on Saturdays could make for a lively evening if you're in the mood for a singalong, and some people reckon the crowd can be quite welcoming. But, and it's a big but, there are a few tales of the staff not being the friendliest, with the landlady apparently giving some a hard time as soon as they walk in. Then there's the odd awkward encounter with other visitors, like being pressured about where to stand, which doesn't exactly make for a relaxed pint. Overall, it's worth a go if you're after something simple and inexpensive, but I'd say keep your expectations in check and maybe pop in during quieter times to avoid any potential drama—after all, it's all about enjoying a good night without the hassle, right?

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The drinks are decent and really affordable, making it a great spot for a budget-friendly pint with mates.
  • There's a friendly vibe from some of the regulars, and the karaoke on Saturday nights sounds like a fun way to let loose.
Cons
  • A few folks have mentioned the landlady coming across as quite rude, which can put a damper on things right from the start.
  • There have been some uncomfortable run-ins with locals, like being told where to stand, which might make you feel unwelcome.
  • The overall atmosphere has been described as a bit dodgy in places, with stories of unprofessional behaviour behind the bar.

It is what it is. Decent drinks at very competitive prices with Karaoke on Saturday nights. People are very friendly too.

Great pint of John Smith's but the landlady was sitting in the corner in a short dressing gown displaying alot that I didn't want to see.Lady behind the bar gave the impression it wouldn't take much to push her buttons.

Seemed like a nice place when we walked in. But as we stood at the bar drinking 2 local women clearly drunk or on drugs or both told us we had to sit down and not stand at the bar. I asked the bar man are we ok to stand at the bar and he said yes. Because we continued to stand at the bar the locals became aggressive towards us and offered to take us outside. Not the nicest of welcomes and would probably be a nice place if it wasn't for the regular clientel

Oh man, where do I even start with this place? This bar—if you can even call it that—was like walking straight into a nightmare I didn’t know I’d signed up for. First off, it looked more like someone’s basement than an actual bar. Dim lights, peeling paint, and a jukebox playing some obscure ‘80s music at full volume. But I figured, hey, maybe it has character, right? Wrong. The real “experience” began when I went to the bar to order a drink. I barely even said "Hi" before the bartender glared at me like I'd insulted her entire family. She was a wall of icy silence, and I could feel that I was *not* welcome. The locals weren’t much friendlier; a few people in a corner booth were giving me serious side-eye, whispering and making zero effort to hide it. As I was trying to enjoy my (overpriced and terrible) gin and tonic, one of them came over and—no joke—asked, “Are you lost?” As if I’d walked into some secret clubhouse by mistake. The vibe was downright hostile, like I was trespassing on their turf just by standing there, and they wanted to make sure I knew it. I couldn't believe how openly they were staring and muttering. I’d say I’d go back for the “experience,” but I’m not trying to get run out of town. This place is like a weird twilight zone of bad attitudes and warm gin.
