About This Pub
You know, when I think about the Lockkeeper, it's got that welcoming vibe that makes it feel like a proper local haunt with a hotel twist. The food really shines in places – imagine tucking into a tasty carvery or a rich pie that hits all the right notes, and the service can be spot on, with staff who explain things clearly and keep everything running smoothly, just like during that brilliant family breakfast someone raved about. The rooms are a treat too, all clean and comfy with modern touches that make you feel right at home, plus it's dead convenient for travellers with free parking and easy access to the airport and shops. But, on the flip side, it's a shame about the food not being as reliable as it once was, with some saying options are lacking and quality's slipped, and then there are those little frustrations like unresponsive messages or not enough basics in the room that can take the edge off. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after a straightforward, no-fuss spot, but it'd be even better with a bit more consistency – worth checking out if you're in the area, just keep expectations balanced.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food hits the mark with delicious options like the carvery and hearty pies, leaving you feeling properly satisfied.
-
Service is warm and attentive; staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome, as seen with the excellent help from folks like Emily and Laura.
-
Rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable, with plush beds, free WiFi, and handy perks like air conditioning and free parking.
-
It's in a brilliant spot, just a short hop from Doncaster Robin Hood Airport and the town centre, ideal for a quick getaway or exploring nearby.
Cons
-
Food quality and choices have taken a bit of a dip lately, with some regulars noticing fewer options and a decline in what used to be a standout menu.
-
Communication isn't always on point; a few have mentioned no replies to messages, which can leave you feeling a tad overlooked.
-
Small niggles like not having enough towels in the rooms can spoil the experience, even if the overall setup is decent.

Can't comment on rooms as never used the hotel. Find the service and quality of food has deteriorated over the past couple of years. Used to be the go to place for a nice meal in nice surroundings.
Surroundings have not changed but quality and availability of food options is now lacking and it's not a place I will be using again any time soon.
Brought the family along for Mother’s Day breakfast with the family. There were 10 of us, breakfast was amazing! Emily and Laura were great, they explained how breakfast worked really well and gave good service! We will definitely be visiting again soon!
I was really impressed with my experience. Check in was easy and we were well informed about checkout/food times and a card hold for any damages. The room was very clean which is incredibly rare for chain hotels at this price point - no dust, no mystery stains on the sheets, no streaky glasses or mucky TV remotes here! I especially wanted to acknowledge how inclusive and supportive several members of staff were about me being in a wheelchair - advising the way to get between the pub and hotel which had a ramp, moving chairs so I could get to the table. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. Food was decent - special shoutout to them having perfectly crispy hash browns in their breakfasts! I would definitely stay here again
2 messages sent via Booking.com - Replies Nil. Checked in online and ordered breakfast. Arrived within our stated time and given room. Having stayed at Lincoln before, we knew what to expect with our room. But in Worksop we only had 1 Bath towel and 1 hand towel, and after checking with other guests found this was commonplace, or lucky, as some only had 2 hand towels and no bath sheet! Room itself not in bad condition, clean and adequate. Guests above us arrived late and had a shouting match and then rose at 4.30 am, banging and clodding about above us. The building is nicely protected from outside noise, but internally not so good. I made a mistake when ordering breakfast, and the staff have tried to amend this - we shall see later in the week if this worked. It wasn't very pleasant passing dirty dishes from the previous days service when collecting breakfast items, also, many of the cups were chipped. There were no pastries whatsoever. Our cooked breakfast was nicely served and tasty, but flat mushroom offered on menu turned into small tinned mushrooms on plate. My husband asked for scrambled egg but was given fried egg instead. Generally the area where we sat was a bit lacklustre, the painted walls were full of grease stains and marks and debris where I imagine decorations had been displayed. Many of the dining chairs needed the squabs re-covered ( torn and tatty).Reception and waiting staff were pleasant and polite. We didn't expect the Ritz, but come on Marsdons you can do better, especially as you have a good location to work with in Worksop!
Was brought by friends for a meal. Really enjoyed it! Had the cheese, leek and potato pie with chips, peas and gravy followed by dark chocolate and mint tart. It was a proper pie with lots of tasty filling. Small portion of tart but that is not a negative, really rich so you didn't need much. Came with ice cream and chocolate mint sauce. Everything was well cooked and presented.
