About This Pub

Ah, the Lockkeeper in Worksop – it's one of those pubs that you pop into for a solid meal and a catch-up, and I've got to say, it does a fair job of it. From what I've gathered, it's got this warm, family-oriented feel that's just right for bringing the kids or meeting up with friends for a bite. The food's a highlight; folks rave about the carvery and those offers like 30% off mains, which make it feel like a proper treat without breaking the bank. Plus, with the beer garden and events lined up, it's easy to see why it's popular for outdoor fun or a relaxed afternoon. On the flip side, though, it doesn't quite nail that intimate, cosy pub atmosphere – it's more functional than snug, if you know what I mean. A couple of reviews pointed out slower service or uneven tables outside, which could be a minor annoyance on a sunny day. All in all, if you're after a straightforward spot with good grub and a welcoming crowd, it's worth a visit, but it might not be the place for a quiet, tucked-away evening. I'd say give it a go and see for yourself – it's got that balanced charm that keeps people coming back.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a brilliant spot for family gatherings or a casual meet-up with mates.
  • They've got a great selection of classic British pub food, like that carvery which sounds spot on from the reviews.
  • Love the outdoor beer garden – perfect for enjoying a pint and some grub in the fresh air when the weather's playing nice.
  • It's family-friendly with events on offer, plus it's dog-friendly, so you can bring the furry family members along.
  • Staff are chatty and accommodating, as mentioned in a few reviews, which really adds to the homely feel.
Cons
  • It doesn't quite capture that cosy, traditional village pub charm, feeling a bit more straightforward than snug.
  • Service can be hit or miss; one review mentioned a long wait for simple food, which might put you off on a busy day.
  • Outdoor tables aren't always level, so you might end up being a bit wary about your drinks tipping over on the grass.
  • Some dishes, like pre-prepared starters, haven't impressed everyone, coming across as a tad underwhelming.

Reliable British pub food. Reasonable selection on the menu, usual beers on tap and a furnished in comfortable, tasteful decor. I wouldn’t say it’s particularly cozy, and doesn’t have that village pub kind of feel, but it delivers perfectly reasonable food and beer when you need to meet up with friends or fancy a few pints over the weekend etc.

Absolutely amazing experience! From the moment we walked in, the staff was warm and welcoming. Big shout out to Emily!! Perfect for a date night We ordered the carvery with pigs in blankets and every bite was bursting with flavour. You can really taste the quality and care in every dish. Finished with a sticky toffee pudding which was a standout — perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Service was top-notch — attentive without being intrusive. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for great food, a lovely atmosphere, and excellent service. Can’t wait to come back!

Last minute decision to call in, was happily accommodated despite not booking, service was fast and food was lovely, Wiki was very friendly and made us the best cocktails. Can't wait to come back.

The only reason this place is getting a 2 for service is because the bar staff were chatty. The place was quiet, it took 40 minutes to get a bought in pre prepared starter and 3 pieces of garlic bread, and look at the state of the garlic bread, cooked on 1 side, flimsy and absolutely pathetic. In my opinion very poor standards were on display this evening.

Good visit thank you. Food was good. Service was good. Doggie treats available. Inside dog friendly area. Plenty of seating inside and out. Small park for kids. Big car park. Only opportunities for me, outside tables to be levelled - slightly cautious about drinks on them on the grass. Water to be available for dogs, had to ask. Plenty of bowls and the team were very helpful to arrange.
