About This Pub

Ah, Larwood & Voce – it's one of those pubs in West Bridgford that just feels like a local gem, tucked away near Trent Bridge, where you can pop in for a relaxed meal or a few drinks with mates. From what folks are saying, the Sunday roasts really steal the show; imagine tucking into a perfectly pink beef rump with that homemade gravy that's got everyone raving – it's no wonder bookings are essential. The drinks menu is another highlight, with a great lineup of real ales and gins that make it a top spot for cricket fans or anyone up for a chat over a cold one. The vibe is light, airy, and unpretentious, with staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome, which adds to that easy-going charm. On the flip side, though, it's not all perfect – there've been a few grumbles about food not quite hitting the mark, like meals that arrived undercooked or cold, and that Christmas dinner mishap sounds like a right letdown with salty meats and inconsistent portions. Still, with an overall rating hovering around 4.3, it's clear the good days far outnumber the bad, so I'd say it's worth giving it a go, especially if you plan ahead for busier times. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening out, where the pros generally shine through.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The Sunday roasts are absolutely spot on – I've heard they're some of the best around, with tender meat and that proper, rich gravy that makes you want seconds.
  • They've got a cracking selection of real ales, beers, and gins, perfect if you're settling in for a matchday or just a casual catch-up.
  • The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with friendly staff who make you feel right at home, especially in that light and airy space.
  • It's a relaxed spot for dining without any fuss, offering daily specials and fun events like Fizz Friday that add a bit of excitement to the week.
Cons
  • There have been a few slip-ups with food quality, like undercooked dishes or cold servings, which could put a dampener on your meal.
  • It can get pretty busy on matchdays, making it tricky to grab a table without booking ahead, and sometimes that leads to a bit of a wait.
  • Portion sizes aren't always consistent, as seen in some experiences where things felt a tad uneven, which might leave you wanting more or less than expected.

Called in on a Saturday evening a couple of weeks ago, very surprised to see the pub so quiet but it was probably due to the cricket international finishing early so those that were at the cricket had already left and those that wanted to avoid somewhere busy had given it a swerve. The result was that we were the only diners so had the run of the place. Served by Leon who was great, very attentive and friendly but didn’t fuss over us too much. It was nice to have someone who had some personality as it must have been difficult with a pretty much empty pub! Food was good but disappointing that there were a few choices missing from the menu.

Went for Sunday Lunch. Opted for the Beef rump roast. Meat was pink as requested. I can honestly say that the food was beautiful and the best Sunday lunch gravy I've had in a long time.I normally come away from a pub roast thinking my home cooked taste better but not today!. Would definitely recommend and will be returning.

Disappointingly terrible for our team Christmas dinner. We spent almost £700 as a team. The calamari was half cooked and reheated, with varying portion sizes which we sent back twice. The trifle had runny custard and the meats (pigs in blankets, pork belly was extremely salty) were cold especially the turkey. We came over dressed because we remember this restaurant as being the place for nice food and atmosphere and I doubt we will ever return. Avoid. There are nicer places to eat in West Bridgford.
