About This Pub

Ah, Kirkless Hall Inn – it's one of those hidden gems in Aspull, Wigan, that really grows on you once you're inside. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is a real highlight; people can't stop talking about the authentic curries and other homemade treats that are both tasty and affordably priced, making it a brilliant spot for a casual meal after a stroll. The staff come across as genuinely warm and attentive, adding to that homely feel that's just right for unwinding with mates. On the flip side, it's not going to win any awards for its looks – the place feels a bit dated and unassuming, which might not appeal to everyone looking for something more modern. Plus, those opening times can be a nuisance if you're hoping for a midday pint, as it often starts later in the afternoon. All in all, if you're after good grub and a relaxed vibe without the fuss, it's worth a visit, but maybe temper your expectations on the aesthetics to keep things balanced.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on, with standout curries that folks rave about – think delicious, homemade Indian dishes that offer great value for your money.
  • Staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
  • It's got a cosy, comfy atmosphere that's perfect for relaxing after a walk or just chilling with friends over a pint.
  • A solid spot for a quick stop, with a basic menu that still has something to suit most tastes.
Cons
  • The building's a bit outdated and not the most visually appealing, which might put some off at first glance.
  • Opening hours can be inconsistent or later in the day, so you might have to plan ahead or wait a bit to get in.
  • It's got a simple, no-frills vibe, which means it doesn't quite have that polished look some might expect from a pub outing.

Absolutely fabulous meal - this place is run by Indians, so don't mess about, select one of their authentic Wigan curries.😁 Absolutely delicious, and so friendly. The perfect reward after the Wigan locks. We had to wait a little because they don't open until 2pm Wednesdays, but it's seriously worth waiting for!

Just had meat samosas followed by chicken curry with half rice/chips + naan, absolutely delicious. The place is a little outdated but the pub is worth a visit for the homemade Indian food, and of course a beer or two.
