About This Pub

Ah, Ivy House – it's one of those pubs in Coventry that really pulls you in with its charm, isn't it? From what I've gathered, the terrace is a real gem, especially on a warm summer evening; imagine kicking back with a cold beer and enjoying the buzz of a party out there. The basement club is another highlight, ideal for livening up hen dos or a proper rave – folks have raved about how welcoming the hosts are and how it all comes together for a memorable time. Quiz nights sound like a proper treat too, with a good mix of drinks on offer and staff who generally make you feel right at home. But, let's be honest, it's not all smooth sailing; there was this one off-putting moment with a staff member getting a bit heavy-handed over the toilets, which could leave a sour taste. On top of that, it's on the pricier side, and the wings might be a bit overly sauced for some palates. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after a fun spot for drinks and gatherings, just go in with your eyes open to those little quirks – you'll likely have a great time, but it's good to know what you're getting into.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The terrace is absolutely lovely, especially for summer parties – it's a brilliant spot to relax with a drink in the sunshine.
  • It's fantastic for hosting events like hen parties or raves in the basement; the atmosphere and sound system really make it a hit for a good night out.
  • They've got a great selection of drinks, including nice drafted beer, and the quiz nights are always a laugh – perfect for gathering with mates.
  • The staff are generally welcoming and professional, which adds to the friendly vibe and makes for a pleasant visit overall.
Cons
  • There was this rather unsettling incident where a staff member banged on the toilet door aggressively, which felt unnecessary and a bit scary.
  • It's not the cheapest place around, so you might end up spending a bit more than expected for a night out.
  • Some of the food, like the wings, can be a letdown with too much sauce, which might not suit everyone's taste.

I only used the toilet once because I got accused of being in there for a long time by a member of the bar staff, who banged on the door like she wanted to knock my lights out. Quite scary and completely unnecessary. There wasn't even anyone waiting to use the loo!

I've only been to the night club part in the basement. A good place to host a party or a rave.

The place has lovelly terrace, brilliant for the party in the summer. Nice drafted beer and brilliant staff. Good sound system in the club which is located below the ground level.

Great place to hang out with friends. They have good burgers, fair wings (too much sauce) and various drink options. However it is not a cheap place. The best thing about this place is the quiz nights. The staff is generally nice and friendly.
