About This Pub

Ah, It Sear – it's one of those cosy spots in Westhoughton that feels like a breath of fresh air, especially if you're after some seriously good grub and a cheeky cocktail or two. From what I've gathered from folks who've been there, the food really steals the show; whether it's a smash burger that's spot-on or sharing small plates like sea bass and pork belly, everything seems to be cooked with real care and comes out looking and tasting fabulous. The staff are an absolute delight too, always up for a chat and making sure you're looked after, which adds to that welcoming atmosphere. It's not without its quirks, mind you – the place could do with a bit more sprucing up in terms of its overall look, and those opening times might leave you high and dry if you're planning a spontaneous Friday night out. Still, for the price, it's a solid choice that doesn't break the bank, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area and fancy treating yourself to something a bit special. All in all, it's got that mix of homely charm and quality that makes it a great shout for a casual get-together with mates.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely brilliant – think juicy burgers, tender lamb kebabs, and perfectly cooked steak that leaves you wanting more.
  • Cocktails and drinks are a real highlight, with a great selection that's spot on for a relaxed evening out.
  • Service is incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's reasonably priced for the quality, offering good value without skimping on the high-end feel.
  • The menu has a nice variety, including small plates that are perfect for sharing and well-presented dishes that add a touch of flair.
Cons
  • The venue's appearance and presentation could use a bit of polish, as one comment mentioned it didn't quite live up to the fantastic food.
  • Opening hours are a tad limited, only open five days a week and closing fairly early, which might not suit everyone looking for a late-night spot.
  • As a newer place, it might feel a bit under the radar, so you could miss out if you're not in the know about Westhoughton's hidden gems.

Lovely meal last night at Sear. We had the burger, lamb kebabs, pork belly and chicken thighs. The food was absolutely brilliant and the chef was working by himself. We thanked him on the way out for an absolutely fantastic meal. The only constructive criticism is the appearance and presentation of the cocktails could be improved. (I know it's not all about garnishes etc) but usually are a nice finishing touch and the whisky cocktail was served in a hiball beaker. Taste was there, just presentation lacked and yet the presentation from the kitchen was beautiful. Would 100% recommend and worth a try when on the high street! Thank you.

Normally call here for a drink and have been looking forward to trying the food now that kitchen has opened. Ordered a variety of dishes to get a good overview of the menu. All the dishes selected were delicious and well presented. Looking forward to going back and trying the few things on the menu that I didn't get round to this time. Great food, fair price.

I’ve been a couple of times since they opened as a bar. Today three of us visited for food and drinks. Various cocktails, a beer and wine. All very nice. Lots of small plates had that were mainly shared including: sea bass, salmon, 2 garlic and tomato curry, halloumi, skinny fries, 2 pork belly and kebab. All I can say is well executed. Sauce accompaniments excellent! If there were any negatives it would be the fries were slightly underdone, but well balanced on the salt and the pork belly was over cooked, but still tasty. A definite return and well worth the money. Staff attentive and lovely venue. Only been serving food for four weeks and we wish you well.
