About This Pub
Ah, Hort's Townhouse – what a gem in the middle of Bristol! I've got to say, from what I've seen in the reviews, it's one of those places that really nails the whole pub experience, with delicious food that's a cut above the rest, like their seasonal roasts and fresh fish dishes that leave you feeling properly satisfied. The staff are an absolute delight, always on hand with a smile and quick to fix any little problems, which makes popping in for a spritz or a full meal feel like catching up with old mates. The building itself is just beautiful, all Grade-II listed charm with plenty of seating options indoors and out, and it's brilliant for those longer stays with their boutique rooms that are comfy and vibrant, right in the city centre. But, to keep it real, there are a few minor downsides – like some rooms having awkward spaces that aren't quite as polished as the rest – so if you're booking a room, it might not be five-star luxury every time. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for anyone wanting a warm, welcoming vibe with great value, especially with those special offers; I'd definitely recommend giving it a go for a relaxed evening or a cheeky weekend away.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot-on, with seasonal menus full of comforting classics and fresh dishes that use the best British produce – I heard rave reviews about their roasts and vegetarian options, making it a top pick for a hearty meal.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always going the extra mile to sort out any little issues, which really makes you feel welcome and looked after.
-
It's got a stunning Grade-II listed building with a great atmosphere, beautiful decor, and comfy seating both inside and out, perfect for sipping on their specially crafted cocktails or spritzes on a sunny day.
-
The boutique bedrooms are fabulously furnished and cosy, ideal for a stay in the heart of Bristol, and they've got some brilliant packages like 'Sip, Supper & Snooze' that add real value to your visit.
-
Being dog-friendly and offering all-day dining from breakfast to evening meals means it's versatile for different occasions, and the central location makes it easy to pop in for a quick drink or a full night out.
Cons
-
There might be a few niggly issues with the rooms, like some underutilised space that could be better arranged, which might not live up to the hype if you're expecting perfection.
-
While the overall vibe is excellent, a couple of reviews mentioned minor problems that needed sorting, so it could feel a bit hit-or-miss if you're staying overnight and hoping for everything to be flawless from the start.

Really really enjoyed an amazing roast here.
Food was absolutely amazing both vegetarian and meat.
Was a welcome Sunday treat in a very lovely bar.
Would recommend highly
Beautiful building in historic location. Toilets top class and spotless. Beers, wines exceptional, lovely hard working attentive staff. Seating outdoors, varied and comfortable.
One of the best places to eat in Bristol! Amazing staff, great range of food options and reasonable prices - can’t ask for better than that! The decor is nice inside and the layout means there’s plenty of seating options, whether you’re by yourself or in a group. All meals I’ve had here have been delicious, can definitely recommend the Niçoise salad but the beer options are great here too. Will be back for sure!
We stayed for the fourth time recently at this wonderful little gem. We had a few niggly issues but Lauren, Desk Manager played a blinder and sorted us out. Missing a trick in room 20/1, can't remember which. Large space in the corner of the room that has a small chair and small gold coloured surface/table. I'm sure there's enough room here for a small 2 seater sofa which would add enormously to the room, looks a bit sad when you're perched on the not too comfortable chair all alone. Super baths in the rooms we had and the showers are fabulous too. Happy waiting staff at breakfast too. We'll be back again.
Second stay at Horts. We were in the Feature Boutique this time, some great features especially the round recessed ceiling light which was like having a ceiling window. It was a cold weekend, bathroom chilly but did warm slightly after we turned on the electric towel rail. For some reason the air con went into standby at random times. Had dinner one night and Jamie the Manager played a blinder with service and chat. Mussels were lovely and plump whilst the fish very tasty with batter light and crispy. Housekeeping lady was very helpful and customer focused.
Three things we missed that we would have liked. Tissues, slippers and feather pillows. 5stars if provided. Definitely stay again.
Great ambience and design of the interior! We had dinner and breakfast and the food was great. The staff was very friendly!
We also stayed in one of rooms which are very cozy!
Great pub and hotel at the center of Bristol!
