About This Pub
Ah, the Hook & Parrot – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local spot, tucked away in Bridlington, where you can kick back and enjoy a pint without the corporate feel. I love how they've nailed the basics: the balcony is an absolute winner on a sunny afternoon, letting you sit out with a cold one and chat away, and the real ale is always spot on, making it a go-to for anyone who appreciates a well-poured drink. Then there are the karaoke evenings – they're a blast, with DJs spinning tunes from 2pm right through to 1am, getting everyone involved and adding that extra spark to the night. Plus, if you're out with your dog, the staff are brilliant about it, fussing over them and sorting out water bowls, which really makes you feel at home. On the flip side, though, the prices can sting a bit; I mean, forking out over £8 for a simple round might have you eyeing up cheaper options just around the corner. And let's be honest, the music isn't always a hit – it turned into heavy metal one time when folks were expecting singalongs, which left a few feeling out of sorts. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good laugh and a catch-up with mates, as long as you're up for a bit of variety and don't mind keeping an eye on the bill.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The balcony area is a real treat on a sunny day, perfect for relaxing with a drink and soaking up the atmosphere.
-
They've got well-kept real ale that's spot on – it's like finding a hidden gem for us ale enthusiasts.
-
Karaoke nights bring a fun, lively vibe, especially on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with great music and DJs keeping things going till late.
-
It's super dog-friendly; the staff make a fuss over your furry mates and even bring them water bowls, which is just lovely.
-
The friendly staff and quirky decor with all those old knickknacks give it a warm, welcoming feel that's hard to beat.
Cons
-
Drinks can feel a bit steep – like splashing out £8.10 for a pint of beer and a coke, which might make you think twice compared to nearby places.
-
The music and events aren't always to everyone's taste; one visit had heavy metal instead of the expected karaoke, which put some off.
-
It might not suit if you're after a quiet night, as things can get lively with the entertainment options.

Nice pub. Sat out on the balcony area which was nice with the sun out
A great find. A proper pub, rare these days!
Well kept real ale and good outside seating
Totally amazing little pub karaoke Wednesday Thursday Saturday with amazing sounds and fantastic music and Djs from 2pm till 1am in the morning
£8.10 for a pint of beer and a pint of coke ( which was in a regular coke glass). Supposed to be karaoke but was just heavy metal. Not for us at all. Came to a pub round corner good karaoke on and only £5.60 for the same type of round!
Called in for a drink , had 3 dogs with us and saw it was dog friendly. We were served our drinks and asked if we wanted a bowl of water for the dogs 🐕 fetched to our table , made a big fuss of the dogs, friendly staff. Loved all the old knickknacks dotted around the pub 👍
