About This Pub

Ah, let me tell you about the Holiday Inn's bar in Watford – it's one of those places that really grows on you with its warm vibes and helpful team who go out of their way to make sure you're looked after. I love how it's tucked away near the train station, making it dead easy to pop in after a day out, especially if you're off to Harry Potter World or just exploring. The bar area's got that cosy feel, with clean surroundings and a welcoming atmosphere that's just right for sinking into a comfortable chair with a pint. On the flip side, though, it's not without its flaws; some mates have mentioned things like dodgy water pressure or rooms that aren't as well maintained, which might spoil the mood if you're hoping for a seamless experience. Overall, it's a decent shout for a relaxed evening out, but I'd say it's best if you go in with realistic expectations – the good bits, like the brilliant staff and handy location, really shine through and make it worth a visit, even if it's not the flashiest spot around.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant and so friendly – they'll make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in, whether you're popping by for a drink or just relaxing.
  • It's in a cracking spot near Watford Junction station, making it super convenient if you're heading to Harry Potter World or nipping into London for the day.
  • The place keeps things clean and cosy, with a welcoming bar area that's perfect for unwinding after a long day.
  • From what folks say, it's a solid choice for a quick pint or a bite, especially if you're staying over and fancy a relaxed atmosphere.
Cons
  • Some bits could do with a bit more upkeep, like the odd maintenance issue that might put a dampener on your visit.
  • There are a few niggles mentioned, such as water pressure problems or temperature control in the rooms, which could affect your overall comfort if you're settling in for the evening.
  • It doesn't quite live up to the hype for everyone, with a couple of reviewers feeling it's not as polished as you'd expect for the ratings it's got.

This property is located near the Watford Junction train and bus station and is within walking distance of it. The hotel is modern and the room was nice. Staff were very friendly. This is a great hotel to stay at if you are visiting Harry Potter World as the shuttle bus to the studios is from the Bus stops near the train station which is quite close to the hotel . Despite the hotel being near to the train and bus station I did not hear any noise pollution at night . I would highly recommend this hotel and I would stay here again. 5*****

No idea why people are giving this place 5 stars. It's not uninhabitable but it's not 5 stars. The hotel location is what I needed and the staff was nice. The hotel itself it's old and not well maintained. The water pressure was lacking. My remote was missing the back. The communal soap is not secured. The ac was not functional so to cool the room I had to open the window to the noisy street. Overall it's fine for one night. Zero chance I would stay longer or come back.

Well, I am comparing it with similar hotels in the US, cause I am from the Boston area. The rooms were good. I struggled with temperature control. It goes off every time I leave the room, energy saving, and sustainability. I like that but didn't know I had to turn it on every time. The first room was drafty, and I could hear wind coming in through the window leak. They changed me to a better one the next day. The restaurant by the lobby was convenient. Had great food and good options. The best part was my office was next door. If I travel I will choose this Holiday Inn again.

Straight off the train is easily a 5 min walk to the hotel. Super clean. Staff were / are brilliant, very friendly from cleaners, breakfast staff, front desk to bar area. Great for Harry Potter. Bath rooms well equipped. Cozy rooms. Would 100% stay here again, even if going into London for the weekend.
