About This Pub
Ah, Hideaway in Darlington – it's one of those places that just warms you up from the moment you step in. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the food is a real standout; those pizzas, especially the signature ones, are spot on with their fresh toppings and lovely base, though a few mates mentioned it could use a tad more salt to perfect it. The service is another winner – the team seems genuinely chuffed to have you there, getting orders out promptly and making everything feel effortless. It's got that easy-going atmosphere too, ideal for a casual get-together or just popping in for a bite and a drink. On the flip side, it's a bit of a shame about the beer selection; no local brews to speak of, which might leave you wanting if you're a fan of supporting nearby spots. And watch out for those hefty portions – they mean well, but you might not finish everything, leading to a bit of waste. All in all, it's a solid choice for a night out, with more highs than lows, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area for some honest, enjoyable grub and good company.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The pizzas are absolutely delicious and well-made, with a great dough and flavours that hit the spot.
-
Friendly and attentive service that makes you feel right at home, with quick delivery of food and drinks.
-
A welcoming atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxed night out, whether you're catching up with friends or enjoying a meal.
-
Fairly priced options, including some cracking deals like bundles that offer great value for money.
Cons
-
Some dishes, like the pizza dough, could do with a bit more seasoning to really bring out the flavours.
-
The beer selection lacks local options, which might disappoint if you're after something from nearby breweries.
-
Portions can be on the generous side, meaning you might end up with more than you can handle, which isn't ideal for everyone.

Loved the place!
We decided to visit Hideaway since we've seen in on YouTube, noticed it's very close and serving one of the best foods - pizza. We ordered 50/50 pizza from signature menu.
Both sides tasted exactly as we would like them to, dough was great - maybe missing some salt but that's personal preference on the dough definitely this didn't make the pizza taste worse. We've finished our dinner with some desserts - they were okay but if someone's a real sweet tooth like myself maybe try dough balls, it could be the hit. We will definitely come back whenever we feel like having a pizza :)
Second time eating here and much improved from the first time. TV now moved to the back of the premises for those who just want a drink and watch the sport.
Good, friendly service with our food arriving quite quickly. One pizza between us with a side of duck fries and two dips. Didn't finish it all. 5*.
Ate here last Friday night with my son for our regular night out. It was our first visit to this place and we were both very impressed with the food, drink, service and atmosphere. Very fairly priced too, we both look forward to returning
I went on a fairly quiet Tuesday night.. The restaurant had a number of tables in, but we got seated, no problem.
The menu is good and has a number of options.
The bar sells a wide range of beers, no local beer, which i think is shame.
We opted for a bundle. We got a huge pizza, two sides, and dips for around £30. Which considering how much we got, i considered this good value for money.
Service was good, staff were nice and chatty. I would like to mention here that somehow, they forgot to give us plates but we simply used napkins, it was not a problem. The staff realised the issue, gave us plates and a free drink..so thank you for that.
I will no doubt be back..
Thank you.
Went to Hideaway Bar & Pizzeria - Darlington yesterday and between the six of us we enjoyed a HUGE chicken Caesar pizza, any mac & cheese, three sides and four dips for £40 (offer in August) and it was two bottles of Old Mout for £7. Winner, winner.
Great place 🍕 And Isobel was lovely 👏🏻
