About This Pub

Ah, Henry Boddington in Salford – it's one of those pubs that really tries to get it right, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews and their own blurb, it's all about that cosy, community feel with staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome, and the food sounds spot on most of the time, with sizzling skillets and burgers that hit the spot, especially if you're after something tasty without spending a fortune. They've got a good mix for different tastes, including vegan and veggie options, and it's brilliant for everything from a casual catch-up to family dinners or even watching the footie with your lot. But, let's be honest, it's not flawless – a few folks have mentioned meals that weren't quite hot enough or steaks that ended up overcooked, and there was that one instance where the server didn't seem too bothered about sorting things out, which is a shame because it can put a dampener on an otherwise nice evening. Overall, I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area; it's got that traditional pub charm with a bit of extra sizzle, and while there are niggles, the positives definitely outweigh them for a solid, affordable night out.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and always ready with a warm welcome, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • The food is a real highlight – plenty of variety, including options for veggies and vegans, and it's all delicious and great value for money.
  • It's a fantastic spot for all sorts of get-togethers, whether you're catching up with mates over a pint, watching the game, or enjoying a family meal.
  • They're genuinely involved in the local community, supporting charities and offering their space for events, which adds a nice community feel.
  • With affordable prices and daily deals, it's an easy choice for a relaxed night out without breaking the bank.
Cons
  • There can be inconsistencies with the food, like it not being piping hot or dishes coming out overcooked, which might leave you a bit disappointed.
  • Some staff members don't always handle complaints well, making it feel like your concerns aren't taken seriously.
  • Portion sizes might not live up to expectations, as one person mentioned their chicken was on the small side compared to other bits on the plate.
  • While it's generally solid, the overall experience isn't perfect for everyone, with a few folks having a less than stellar visit.

Came in for a birthday meal with my wife and daughter. We were served by Matthew who sorted our drinks out and showed us to our reserved table. We ordered food with Scarlett who was friendly and helpful. Myself and my wife ordered the pork tomahawk and my daughter had a adults mac & cheese. Food arrived in a reasonable amount of time considering it was busy. My daughter really enjoyed her meal and I would say the pork tomahawk is the best meal I've eaten off the menu. I couldn't fault the way it was cooked, please pass on my compliments to the person in your kitchen team. The atmosphere was great as always. If I had one gripe it is lack of seasoning on some of your food. eg: chips, vegetables on skillets, being someone who works In a professional kitchen this is a basic mandatory requirement to season everything.

Food was warm not hot, food served on the skillets were not “sizzling” steak overcooked ordered blue steak but it was medium rare spoke to the server a male who was not in the least interested in my concerns Pictures are of half a chicken breast (half of tomato was bigger than the chicken) We were a party of 6 and 3 of us had very bad stomach cramps after eating the food Lights flickered all the time we were there
