About This Pub

You know, I popped into Heidrun the other day and it's one of those places that just hits the spot for a laid-back evening out. They've got this cracking selection of craft beers and ciders that any enthusiast would rave about – think flights in quarter pints for a proper taste test without breaking the bank. The food's generally a winner too; I loved hearing about those cauliflower wings with Honey Hot sauce, and it sounds like the chef's happy to mix things up for you. The vibe is spot on, all relaxed and friendly, making it ideal for a chat over drinks. But, let's be honest, it's not flawless – it fills up quickly, especially on busier nights, so you might end up waiting or needing to book. A couple of folks mentioned the chicken wings were a disappointment, coming across as tiny and soggy for the price, which is a shame when the rest is so good. Still, with an overall rating hovering around 4.5, it's a solid pick for anyone in High Wycombe looking for a decent pint and a bite, as long as you go in with realistic expectations.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Fantastic selection of craft beers and ciders that really caters to beer lovers
  • Tasty food options, especially the wings and beer flights, which are great value and full of flavour
  • Relaxed and friendly atmosphere, perfect for a casual catch-up with friends
  • Handy location right next to the Wycombe Swan Theatre, making it easy to pop in before or after a show
Cons
  • It can get quite busy and fill up fast, so you might struggle to find a table without booking ahead
  • Some dishes, like the chicken wings, have let a few people down by being a bit small, soggy, or on the pricey side
  • It's a touch out of the main town centre, which might make it less convenient for everyone
  • With moderate prices, it could feel a tad expensive for what you get at times

It was our first time visiting Heidrun, as it's a little outside the town centre, but it’s ideally located right next to the Wycombe Swan Theatre, which is why we decided to pop in. The place is lovely—small but welcoming—with a large selection of different beers and ciders. I wouldn’t call myself a beer connoisseur, but I do enjoy a pint or two. I tried 'The Search For Truth Begins' by Cloudwater Brewery, and it was amazing! The staff were friendly and helpful, and we’ll definitely go out of our way to visit again.

Highly recommend the cauliflower wings with Honey Hot sauce! If you're unable to select the sauce you want, the chef also splits the dish and gives you half and half with two sauces 🤩 The flights of craft beer served in quarter pint glasses are great value in a tasting menu. The waitress was attentive and gave us good recommendations.

Cute place. Not too big but not too small, intimate enough for drinks and a catch up chat without being drowned out by music. Friday night vibe was relaxed. This being our first time visit we didn't realise how quickly it fills up and mamy tables were reserved. The food was hot & tasty and the drinks were really good, decently priced. Staff had some knowledge and presented good reccommendations. May have found a new fave place.

Great pub, great food and an excellent rotation of craft beers, sours, ciders and lagers. Food is always on point! Highly recommend Still the best atmosphere to be had in Wycombe. The best place to meet up full stop

I love chicken wings and I saw Heidrun had raspberry jalapeno flavoured wings. I was excited to try these but they fell flat, wings were tiny, soggy and expensive. A bigger wing size, a cornstarch coating with a double fry and these wings would have been incredible. One take away from this experience was their parmesan truffle fries were very nice, honey buffalo sauce was good but that blue cheese dip was out of this world. It just wasn't worth the £17.50 I spent.
