About This Pub

Ah, The Falcon, it's one of those Wetherspoons pubs that you pop into for a reliable, budget-friendly bite and a drink, right in the middle of High Wycombe. I've got to say, when it's on form, the food is genuinely enjoyable – think piping hot meals that actually taste good, and those value deals like fish and chips with a pint for just under £12 are an absolute bargain. The staff can be lovely too, really accommodating and quick to sort out any extras, which makes for a pleasant chat over a coffee with free refills. But, let's be honest, it's not perfect; there are times when the service drags, like waiting half an hour for food that's gone cold because of shortages, or even not getting everything you ordered, which can leave you a bit miffed. Still, with its handy location near the shops and stations, it's a solid choice for a casual meet-up or a quick meal after a day out. Overall, I'd recommend giving it a try if you're after something straightforward and inexpensive, just go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a decent time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food here can be a real winner – properly cooked, piping hot, and enjoyable, which is a nice surprise for a Wetherspoons spot.
  • They offer great value deals, like fish and chips with a pint for under £12, plus specials and afternoon discounts that make it easy on the wallet.
  • Service can be spot on when it's good, with friendly staff who are quick to check in, bring missing bits, and even offer free refills on coffee.
  • It's conveniently located in the heart of High Wycombe, just a short walk from the shopping centre, bus station, and train station, perfect for a quick stop.
Cons
  • Service isn't always reliable – sometimes you're left waiting ages for food, like 45 minutes due to things like a lack of cutlery, and it might arrive less than fresh.
  • Stock issues can crop up, such as running out of soft drinks, which might put a dampener on things if you're not in the mood for alcohol.
  • Not every visit is smooth; there have been times when food doesn't show up at all, leading to a bit of frustration and an incomplete meal.
  • While the coffee can be decent, the overall experience feels inconsistent, so you might have a great day or one that falls a bit flat.

I thought this was going to be a bad one when they had no soft drinks. However, this is the 1st wetherspoons that I have been in where the food was served quick but was properly cooked, piping hot and enjoyable. Not one complaint. 1st wetherspoons to have decent temperature coffee!!!

Very slow food - unfortunately we had to wait upwards of 45 minutes. We were told this was due to lack of cutlery. This meant food was waiting on the pass and arrived past its best. In the end we had to leave without some of our food arriving. Staff were trying their best, but needed a better system.

There was a great selection of great value food here with special deals and afternoon discounts. I had fish and chips with baked beans and a pint of Stella Artois followed by a chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and Belgian chocolate sauce and a coffee with free refills for just under £12. The service was extremely prompt and the staff were friendly and attentive. I have only marked The Falcon down for atmosphere because of a couple of inebriated customers and a group of slightly loud younger people but that may just have been unfortunate timing. One section of the pub was cordoned off due to a leak but I'm sure that will have been resolved since the Easter holiday weekend.

The nicest service I’ve ever experienced at Wetherspoon! The waitresses were incredibly accommodating, promptly bringing anything that was missing from the condiments and checking in to see how the food was. The food delivery was quick, and the fish and chips were excellent. Highly recommend!

Another Wetherspoons I've previous been to but didn't review. A medium sized branch in the middle of High Wycombe Town Centre. Now the only branch in High Wycombe after the William Robert Loosely closed a few years ago. A short walk from Eden Shopping Centre/Bus Station and the Train Station. Pub was not overly busy when I visited. Although trade did pick up during my visit. Ordered a Vegetarian Breakfast and a pint of Stowford Press and Blackcurrant. Total cost £7.38. The pint arrived within about a minute of ordering, with the Breakfast arriving in about 8 minutes. However, the sausages were missing, as per the image. Had to chase the server for them. Although to be fair, they did arrive within a few minutes of asking. Breakfast was of good presentation but lukewarm. Despite the minor hiccups, still one of the cheapest places for food and drink in High Wycombe.
