About This Pub
You know, when I think about Heathfield Farm in Birkenshaw, it really warms my heart – it's one of those pubs that feels like a proper community hub, not too fancy but just right for a relaxed meal. The carvery stands out as a real winner; it's packed with flavourful roasts and sides that leave you feeling satisfied without being overly heavy, and from what I've heard from others, it's become a go-to for Sunday lunches or even midweek treats. The staff are an absolute gem, always cheerful and going the extra mile to make your visit memorable, whether it's a fun surprise for a birthday or just helpful advice on the menu. It's spot on for families too, with that play area keeping the kids happy, which means us grown-ups can actually enjoy a chat over a drink. On the flip side, it does tend to fill up quickly, especially on weekends, so planning ahead is a must to avoid any queues. And while the food is solid and comforting, if you're in the mood for something a bit more innovative, it might feel a tad straightforward. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone looking for good, honest pub fare in a friendly setting – I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Came for son’s birthday and hubby couldn’t come as ill with chicken pox. The carver Carolyn was brilliant when I told her and had a bit of fun with his takeaway box to make him feel better. Brought a smile to his face when I got home.
Connor was brilliant, helpful and pleasant Bar staff too. Food was as good as the service we received. I can recommend any time. Been coming for years.
Thanks guys for making it’s a fun night too.
We booked table so no wait. Great place staff always happy to help. And the refreshed kids play area was a hit. Looks better than it did.nice little soft play for our youngest and then small bit just right slide activity spot the our slightly bigger ones.
Fantastic carvery, me and my friend came on Sunday 13th April for the first time, and we have been back again today because we thought it was that good. The carvery is the nicest carvery I have ever had and I will definitely be coming back many more times in the future. Also the cakes are amazing too. We did try and book our table today but the online system didn't let us book anything after the time of 6.30, we also called a few times to try and book but no answer even though when we got there it wasn't that busy. I will be recommending this place to other people.
Nothing to complain about. Great meal for 5 of us. Service was fast. And the staff / servers were lovely.
2 had carvery and the other 3 had meals from the menu. Mixed grill was spot on and the farm burger was banging. Will come again.
We chose not to cook our own Christmas Dinner this year, and were very happy with the plentiful and delicious food on offer at Heathfield Farm Carvery. The staff had all worked extra hard to make all their guests happy, with many personalised touches, including an individually hand-written Christmas card, gingerbread men and a wrapped gift for children in our party. The best thing was the happy atmosphere. The only little niggles were that one of our group - our Ukrainian guest - was left waiting ages for her starter, after we had all been served, despite our exact table order having been emailed well in advance, and my daughter didn't get the nut roast she had ordered. (I got mine, though, and it was absolutely my favourite - really tasty, and with a good texture) . I suggest they check orders carefully- make sure all serving staff are aware - particularly when there are vegetarian orders - so that when each table is called up to get their meal, they already have any special orders ready to go.
Other than that issue, the staff were all super smiley and helpful. I loved the Christmas sauces (apple, mint, cranberry and horseradish) that were available on a separate table and that I was able to get a portion of creamy Madagascan vanilla ice
cream at the table, even though my Marz Attack Cake was to take home with me.
They were also very generous with the time slot they allowed - 3 whole hours between new groups of diners - so we had plenty of time to sit and enjoy our special family meal within a relaxing and cosy environment.
