About This Pub

Ah, the Harvester Honey Pot in Basildon – it's one of those places that just feels like a comfy old friend, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, it's spot on for a casual family outing or catching up with pals over some solid grub. The atmosphere is all about that warm, traditional pub feel, with a team that's genuinely chuffed to help, like the servers who got rave reviews for their top-notch service and making sure everyone feels looked after. You've got this brilliant menu packed with flavoursome options, from their famous rotisserie chicken and grills to plenty of veggie and vegan picks, and don't even get me started on that unlimited salad bar – it's a proper treat for keeping things fresh and light. It's dead handy too, tucked away in Festival Leisure Park with easy parking, making it a great pit stop after exploring the local sights. On the downside, a few have said the food's a bit run-of-the-mill, relying on commercial ingredients that might not wow the more discerning types, and it could leave you wanting something a touch more exciting if you're after fine dining vibes. Still, with an overall rating hovering around 4.2, it's clear most folks leave with a smile, especially families who appreciate the straightforward, enjoyable experience without any fuss. All in all, it's a solid choice for a hassle-free meal out – I'd say give it a go if you're after something reliable and welcoming, but keep expectations in check for that extra special touch.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's brilliantly family-friendly, with a welcoming vibe that's perfect for a relaxed meal with the kids or mates.
  • The menu's got a fantastic variety, including loads of vegan and vegetarian options, plus healthier choices that cater to all tastes.
  • The staff are absolute stars, always friendly and attentive – like in the reviews where servers went above and beyond to make evenings special.
  • Great value for money, especially for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, with that unlimited salad bar being a real highlight.
  • Super convenient location in Festival Leisure Park, with free parking and easy access to nearby spots like Barleylands Farm Park.
Cons
  • Some dishes can feel a bit average, with a few folks noting it's made from commercial products rather than anything fancy or homemade.
  • It might not impress if you're after something more gourmet or unique, as it's more about reliable pub grub than standout flavours.
  • A couple of reviews mentioned it not quite hitting the mark for everyone, so it could be hit or miss depending on what you're in the mood for.

Such a lovely dinner out and perfect for families. An amazing variety on the menu with plenty of vegan/ vegetarian options as well as healthier options. We had Richard as our server who was absolutely amazing, he really looked after us and made our experience a whole lot better ☺️ Will definitely be coming back, overall amazing!

Fantastic experience at breakfast. Our waitress, Lauren, couldn't have been more helpful if she tried. The food was really well cooked and came quickly. The poached eggs with the Eggs Benedict were perfectly cooked! Despite our requests to change certain aspects of our dishes, Lauren made sure that everything was perfect. It's my first time here and, when I'm next in Basildon, I'll definitely be returning.

The food was very average, it might be ok for some people, but for us was not worthy, it was no love, all super cheap commercial products. I would rather go to a local breakfast restaurant. The staff was very nice and polite.

I had the festive menu - great value for money and very tasty. Husband had ribs which he said were lovely too. Jenny our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Checking on us but not too much, would definitely return and highly recommend.

Rarely have a bad meal here and it's great for the kids. We probably come here with our kids more than any other restaurant. It's because it's easy, enjoyable and the staff are always happy to see us. Most of the staff even remember us when we return which is really nice. When taking advantage of the lunch time deals as well, it can be a very affordable meal. Out of all of the Harvester's I have been to, this one is my favourite by far. Update to this review 14/11/2024 - we returned to the restaurant today just after they have had a complete refit/makeover. What a difference it has made! It looks brilliant inside and there's so much more space now! The place just feels so much more open. Really has improved the place, you must visit. Also has the festive menu today and it was delicious. Really enjoyed it!
