About This Pub

Ah, the Greswolde Arms in Knowle – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, you know? From what folks are saying, the food really steals the show; imagine tucking into a beautifully done mixed grill or some juicy prawns and fries, all paired with recommendations like that sticky toffee pudding that's got everyone raving. The service is spot on too, with cheerful staff who make you feel right at home, whether you're popping in for a quick bite or settling in for the evening. It's got that lovely historical vibe as a former coaching inn, making it a great spot for a catch-up over their new seasonal menus or a traditional Sunday roast. On the flip side, the building's layout can be a bit confusing with its winding hallways and stairs, which might not suit everyone, especially if you're not up for a wander. And let's be honest, the staff do seem to have their hands full at times, which could lead to a slight wait or two. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out – just keep those little niggles in mind, and you'll have a cracking time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely brilliant – think quality pub classics like mixed grills and seasonal specials that are cooked to perfection, leaving you feeling well satisfied.
  • The staff are so friendly and welcoming; they really go the extra mile to make your visit enjoyable, just like chatting with old mates.
  • It's got a cosy, comforting atmosphere in a historic spot on Knowle's high street, ideal for a relaxed meal or even a stay in their clean and comfortable rooms.
  • They're always up for something special, like their new spring-summer menu or Sunday roasts, which are perfect for gathering with friends and family.
Cons
  • The layout can be a bit of a puzzle with maze-like hallways and plenty of stairs, making it feel a tad old-fashioned and tricky to navigate.
  • The team sometimes seem stretched thin, juggling bar and reception duties, which might mean waits or a less smooth experience during busy times.
  • Don't forget to pop your car registration into the machine in the car park – it's easy to overlook and could put a dampener on your visit.

We had a beautiful meal here at Greswolde Arms on a Saturday evening. The service was fantastic by Rochelle and the Team. My partner had the mixed grill which looked beautiful, good quality meat cooked to perfection and I had prawns and fries. Rochelle recommended the sticky toffee pudding which did not disappoint and my partner had a lovely brownie. I could highly recommend.

Lovely, clean hotel in nice area. Beautiful room. And Rochelle at the front desk was warm, helpful, and just a really nice person. Will certainly stay here again for any NEC events (only a few minutes drive away but in a quiet area of Solihull), and would absolutely recommend.

I visited this hotel with my family last Friday, and it was an amazing experience, especially the food! I ordered the crispy chicken burger, and it was absolutely delicious – crispy, juicy, and full of flavor. We also tried the Chef’s Board, and every item on it was cooked to perfection. The presentation of the dishes was excellent and made the meal feel even more special. The food was prepared by Chef Guru, and his expertise was clearly reflected in both the taste and the presentation. This was my first time dining here, and I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates great food and quality service!

I enjoy visiting this hotel, the rooms are nice, comfortable and clean. The hallways are a little bit of a maze with quite a few stairs and a little old fashioned. Staff seem a little stretched at times covering the bar and reception. The food is lovely, never had a bad meal here. Stayed here several times with work and never been disappointed. Would prefer more central to Solihull, but it is less than a 10 min drive.

Attended recently, they have a decent size car park but you must remember to put your reg in when you enter the pub, it’s hard to miss as the machine is directly in front of you. The pub itself is nice, plenty of seating, the staff are great, really friendly and happy to have a laugh. The drinks are quite pricey, and unfortunately I found the food and portions mediocre considering the price. It was really quiet when we attended so expected much better standard of food.
