About This Pub
Oh, Granello Lounge is one of those places that just feels like a proper gem in Hitchin – you know, the kind where you pop in for a quick coffee and end up staying for hours. I've got to say, the food really hits the spot; whether it's a hearty Buddha bowl or those sensational Korean prawns that one chap raved about, there's a real variety that caters to all tastes, and the deals like Tapas Tuesdays make it even more appealing for a midweek treat. The staff are genuinely lovely, always up for a chat and quick to help out, even when the place is buzzing – it's heartening to see them handle prams and dogs with such ease. But, fair's fair, it can get a bit manic at peak times, so you might find yourself waiting for a table or dealing with that QR code ordering malarkey, which isn't always smooth sailing thanks to the WiFi. Still, with its charming lights and spacious feel, it's a spot I'd happily recommend for a relaxed catch-up or a cheeky drink, as long as you're in the mood for a bit of patience alongside the good vibes.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – from tasty burgers and salads to standout dishes like those Korean prawns, it's got something for everyone, including great options for kids, gluten-free, and vegan diets.
-
Service is generally top-notch; the staff are friendly and helpful, even when it's busy, and they've got some lovely touches like accommodating prams and being dog-friendly.
-
Prices are reasonable, especially with those cheeky deals like Tapas Tuesdays or the Cocktail Club – it's a brilliant way to enjoy a night out without breaking the bank.
-
The atmosphere is charming; that handsome green tiled exterior and the cosy inside with gazillions of chandeliers and twinkly lights make it feel really welcoming and spacious.
-
It's accessible too, with wheelchair-friendly seating and restrooms, so it's easy for everyone to pop in and feel at home.
Cons
-
It can get pretty busy, especially at lunchtime or evenings, which might mean a wait for a table or your food, so it's worth planning ahead.
-
The ordering system via QR code has had a few teething issues, like dodgy WiFi that slows things down, which might frustrate you if you're not tech-savvy or in a rush.
-
Sometimes there are little hitches, like initial confusion with service or being told food will take time, which could put a dampener on things if you're after a quick bite.

Good service and good food. I opted for the lunchtime deal of a cup of soup with half a tuna melt, it was tasty and the soup came hot which I always love! Busy place during the lunchtime but we did manage to get a table. The place is bigger on the inside than you would expect. Prices are reasonable, my deal was around £7 and I would suggest a price range of between £10-15 pp. No parking unless you're lucky to find a free parking spot on the road . However, there are plenty of carparks nearby. I will definitely eat here again!
PS. I took a photo of my second course but I'll be back to provide photos of mains 😊
Had our year Christmas meal there.
Lovely food, great service
Service was great. Food was great. Had a buddah bowl with chicken and then three tapas (Korean prawn, squid and chicken done garlic style).
The stand out dish was the Korean prawn. It was sensational. I’d have eaten a bucket full of that. More more more please. Make it into some sort of a main course for me please!
This is a growing chain of restaurants and I’ve been to a couple of others before this review. I’ve always come away pleased. Today was no different.
I had a pint of orange juice (fresh) and lemonade and it hit the spot.
Will go again (to the chain) and this place specifically was good. Good for families and friends and groups.
Great food, and service too, after food ordered.
We arrived and were offered a choice of two tables, then the member of staff mumbled something and went off. About ten minutes later we realised that we had to order through the small QR code on the table. This took ages as WiFi not great.
However, the food was excellent and drinks arrived quickly after the order went through.
Great place. I came in with a friend during their busy time and with a x2 prams and staff was friendly and very helpful. Luckily we didn’t have to wait for a table, we wer seated straight away with lots of room for our prams.
They did tell us that because it’s very busy the food will take time which was fine. Food arrived much faster then I expected (no complaints there)
I’ve only been ordering tapas (which are amazing) but I’m sure the rest of the food on the menu is just as good.
I would definitely recommend this place and will be back soon 😁
