WE ALWAYS GIVE 5s AS ALL PUBS ARE DIFFERENT AND GREAT
CONTEXT
Based on several visits over the last few weeks (evenings, late afternoons).
ATMOSPHERE
Later week evenings and dryish weekend afternoons they have a great atmosphere. The place itself is quite small inside, but they are able to share an open and covered outdoor space outside with the (excellent) wine bar next door.
SERVICE
Owner is very friendly and accommodating, will recommend stuff/chat with you, whatever. Some of the younger staff maybe need to get to know their beer a bit better. Also, as a 'service' think their opening times could be better, especially on Thursdays or Fridays, maybe a 3pm opening would be good, or maybe even just that through the summer.
STYLE
Arcade modern pub style. By this i mean, it is in an arcade, and so small space and bar, but great find and can take a child there to run around the arcade (which i've done, say hellow if you see us). Also music occasionally played in there on weekends, and occasional sport on the 1 tele in there, though they do not show premiership or F1 or any of that bollocks...as far as i've seen :)
TOILET
Think its just the 1 (small place as mentioned), good upkeep, upstairs, so not accessible to those who cannot access stairs HOWEVER, there is a community public toilet 10 seconds up the arcade with full accessible stuff and baby changing.
PRICE
I can't remember, but local craft (Mad squireel Sumo) about £6.50, more adventurous craft (further away) , £7 ish. ..pints.
FOOD & DRINK
I have not eaten there, but occasionally on the weekends they have street food vendor selling there (check their social media). Good, simple selection (4 on tap) of beers, as well as many various cans. Nothing on cask as far as i remember, but i may be wrong.
Great atmosphere, one of my fave places in Hitchin, very good abd simple craft beer selection, with occasional guest beers. Opens later than other craft beer places in Hitchin
Gem of a bar in Hitchin, excellent choice of ales and craft beer, I’m vegetarian so can’t comment on the meat dishes but the food here is a great accompaniment to your beers. Nice vibe in the arcade and the owner seems like a decent chap too
