About This Pub
Ah, Goose Romford – it's one of those pubs that really knows how to draw you in with its welcoming atmosphere and prime spot near the high street, making it a go-to for a quick drink or a full evening of fun. The beer garden is an absolute gem, especially on a sunny day, and they've nailed the live sports scene with all the big matches on offer, which is brilliant if you're into cheering on your team with a crowd. The food's solid too, with tasty pub grub at prices that feel just right for a casual get-together. But, let's be straight, it's not all pints and cheers; I've heard a few tales of staff not being as friendly as you'd hope, and that strict over-18s rule means it's probably not the place for a family meal, even if the menu suggests otherwise. Still, with events like quiz nights to keep the energy up, it's worth a visit if you're up for some adult-oriented banter – just go in with your ID ready and manage your expectations for a smooth night.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The beer garden is absolutely massive and one of the best in Romford – perfect for soaking up the sun with a pint and catching up with mates.
-
They've got a cracking selection of live sports on HD screens, from Premier League footy to rugby and Formula 1, making it a top spot for match days.
-
The food menu is spot on with pub classics done right, plus affordable options that won't break the bank for a good lunch or evening meal.
-
Loads of fun events like quiz nights and karaoke keep things lively throughout the week, giving you plenty of reasons to pop in.
-
It's in a prime location right near Romford High Street and the train station, so it's dead easy to get to after work or a day out.
Cons
-
Some staff members can come across as a bit rude or unprofessional, which might put a dampener on your night out.
-
It's strictly over 18s with a tough challenge 25 ID policy, so if you're planning a family gathering, you might need to think twice.
-
There have been a few gripes about security being overly strict or not handling things smoothly, like issues with entry or refusals at the bar.
-
Despite having a kids' menu listed, it's not really set up for families, which could be confusing and disappointing if that's what you're after.
-
A few recent experiences suggest the vibe can turn sour if things get busy, with some feeling unfairly turned away when trying to enjoy themselves.

We made a booking for Lunch to enjoy the Father's day and when I asked for highchair they said the pub is not kids friendly. So I was surprised because on the website doesn't mention nothing about this and they have kids menu 🤔 how is this possible. The lady in the bar was very rude 😒
Definitely the worse Stonegate pub in London, the security very rude and unprofessional, the security guy was sitting in front of the door without any uniform to look that he is a security or a staff, he has an attitude and he didn’t let me in because he said my driving licence is EU and not UK and he never seen that before, to be honest first time that happened to me and it was ridiculous because my id was not a uk one!! He couldn’t even explained why that is was not acceptable he just said that the girl in the photo doesn’t look like you. He was just sitting and speaking with much attitude, when I ask for the manager she said first time saw an ID like this, ridiculous that ID is acceptable from the police, who they think they are. I don’t understand how people like that being managers and working in big companies, very racist and unprofessional.
Went on Saturday for a friend's birthday. Arrived around 3.30...there were 10 of us. We were all having a great time but then later in the evening we were refused to buy anymore drinks the reason given we were intoxicated. We had obviously all had a drink as it was a celebration but in NO way were we that drunk that we couldn't stand up or slurring our words if anything we were having a great time dancing and singing, as were a lot of other people in the pub. 2 of your bouncers actually came over and manhandled one of our friends for absolutely no reason other than he was trying to get a drink at the bar. Things then got a little heated as we all left in disgust. Just to inform you we are all in our late 50s early 60s not young kids drinking whatever they can and falling over etc. We regularly meet in this pub and have always has a great time. We will NOT be coming back again which is a shame as we spend a lot of money each time we meet there. I think you need to speak with your staff and reiterate the meaning of being too intoxicated!
Went for a friends birthday, great environment, really good music, amazing beer garden, definitely recommend buying the towers they’re super cool! they have really good deals on shots too.
Amazing place, unless you want fish and chips. 😂 The Steak Pie and chips are really good though.
The employees are great. I will be back nightly while I am here in Romford.
14Feb: the place is busy, as expected, but the bartenders were on thier game and took care of the patrons quickly. A+
