About This Pub

Ah, the George & Dragon in Kendal is one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a laid-back evening with mates. I love how it's so budget-friendly; grabbing a few drinks won't break the bank, and the staff are absolute gems, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly. It's got this vibrant buzz with live events like music and karaoke, plus it's spot on for catching the big games on the telly – really adds to the fun without feeling overwhelming. On the flip side, if you're peckish for more than a quick snack, you might be a bit disappointed as they don't do full meals, so planning ahead for dinner elsewhere could be wise. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone after a genuine, no-fuss pub experience in the heart of Kendal, where the value and atmosphere shine through, even if it's not perfect for every occasion.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Incredibly affordable drinks – you can get pints for as little as £2.20, which is a real treat these days!
  • Friendly and welcoming staff who make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • A lively atmosphere with live music, karaoke, sports screenings, and even family-friendly vibes for a good night out.
  • Open seven days a week with late hours, often until the early hours, so it's perfect for a spontaneous catch-up.
Cons
  • Food options are pretty limited, just sticking to snacks, so if you're after a proper meal, you might need to look elsewhere.
  • The pub's charm is more about the traditional feel, which might not suit everyone if you're after something more modern or fancy.

What a cracking town pub this is. Since Steve and his team took over just under a year ago joined with an extensive refurb the place has just gone from strength to strength. Whether it’s live sport, karaoke, live music, disco night or just a quiet family drink there’s rarely a week that passes where the George fails to deliver. To top it off it’s probably the cheapest bar in town too. Keep up the good work a credit to the Kendal pub scene.

Unbelievably cheap and cheerful with friendly staff. Food (apart from snacks) isn't served but if you just want a drink in a friendly atmosphere in the centre of Kendal you simply can't beat the George & Dragon.

A very friendly welcome for both me & my dog! Had a nice pint of cold Worthingtons which at £2.20 was excellent value for money! All round great old fashioned pub where you can go for a beer & watch sports! 👍😁
