About This Pub
Ah, the George and Dragon – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Lancaster, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews and their website, it's all about that warm, community-focused vibe, with staff who genuinely make you feel welcome, whether you're there for a quick drink or to catch some live music like a shanty session. The beers are spot on, offering everything from smooth cask ales to refreshing ciders, and at prices that won't leave you out of pocket. It's especially nice on a sunny day with that outdoor area for a bit of people-watching. On the flip side, if you're a cider enthusiast, you might find the options a tad limited, and the opening times can vary, so it's worth checking ahead. Oh, and while they've got food sometimes, it isn't always on offer, which is a pity if you're peckish. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good night out – the high ratings speak for themselves, with folks raving about the atmosphere and events, making it a place I'd recommend for anyone looking for that authentic pub experience in Lancaster.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly and go the extra mile, like Liam who makes everyone feel right at home.
-
They've got a cracking selection of beers and ciders on tap, from cask ales to craft options, perfect for a relaxed pint after a long day.
-
Live music and events, such as shanty nights and bands, really bring the place to life and foster that community spirit we all love in a good pub.
-
It's affordably priced, so you can enjoy a night out without breaking the bank, and the outdoor area is lovely for soaking up the sun when the weather's on our side.
Cons
-
The cider selection could do with a bit more variety; it's a shame if you're after something beyond the basics.
-
Operating hours seem a tad inconsistent from what I've seen, which might catch you out if you're planning a visit on a Sunday.
-
Food options aren't always available, so it might not be the spot if you're hoping for a full meal alongside your drink.

Lovely pub, great atmosphere but a wider selection of ciders would be nice.
The pub is under new management. Now doing good reasonably priced food still with a wide selection of beers and real ale. There is a fantastic friendly atmosphere one of the few pubs in Lancaster you can walk into not knowing anyone and end up having a good crack.
Lovely pub with a nice outdoor area. It was great to sit on the sunshine people watching. The landlord and his wife were very friendly. The landlord came to chat to us about his pub and where he previously worked in Preston. They weren’t serving food today but the landlady said the kitchen would be open Sunday. When we left the pub we walked along the front to head back into the city. A very pleasant visit.
