About This Pub
Ah, the General Havelock – it's one of those hidden gems in East Sleekburn that you stumble upon and think, 'Why haven't I been here sooner?' From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, folks absolutely rave about the cosy atmosphere; it's tucked away, so it's always nice and quiet, perfect for sinking into a chat with mates over a pint. The beers and ales on offer are spot on, and there's even a pool table if you fancy a game, plus that welcoming fire on a nippy night really warms things up. The staff come across as genuinely friendly, like they're part of the community, and it's heartening to hear stories of their kindness, such as letting someone have a drink on the house when cards weren't accepted. On the flip side, it's a bit of a mixed bag – some say it looks like it's seen better days, which gives it that authentic, old-school charm but might put off a few if it's not quite up to scratch. And watch out for the cash-only policy; it's not ideal in this digital age, but they've been accommodating in the past. All in all, if you're after a laid-back spot for a good chinwag and a decent drink without the hustle and bustle, it's worth a visit – just go with an open mind and maybe some cash in your pocket!

-
It's dog-friendly, so you can bring your furry friend along, and it's great for groups looking for a relaxed catch-up.
Cons
-
It can feel a bit run-down in places, which is a shame as it adds to that 'last legs' worry mentioned by some.

Payment might be cash-only at times, which could be a hassle if you're out and about without any notes.
-
Being tucked away means it's often quiet, which is lovely for a calm pint but might not suit if you're after a lively buzz.

Nice pub to call to quiet but nice
Absolutely brilliant pub, tucked away meaning it's always peaceful and quiet. Great beers and ales on tap and a pool table if you fancy a game. Nice little fire in the corner on a cold night. Staff are first class, homely feel every time I've been. Always a friendly dog or two to say hi too.
Rather sad to see a pub that looks like it's on it's last legs. I hope it survives. The one real ale on offer was excellent.
Popped in as on way home from a bike ride. Only had my card, ordered a pint and landlord said only cash. However, he said its ok just have it. I salute you Sir. Very kind. However , I will pop back and square up. Also a guy at the bar even offered to buy my drink. Talk about the kindness of strangers. I will most certainly be back. Lovely cosy bar and without a doubt a friendly welcome.
