About This Pub
Ah, Gamston Lock – what a gem of a pub it is, tucked away in Gamston near Nottingham. I've got to say, it's one of those places that just hits the spot for a good meal and a catch-up. The food really stands out; whether it's their pies packed with tender meat and that rich red wine sauce, or a full English breakfast with all the extras, everything seems to be done with real care and quality. The staff are an absolute delight too – always smiling, quick to help, and making sure you're looked after without being over the top. It's got this family-friendly vibe that's spot on, with a stunning beer garden and a Scandinavian-style patio that's just made for lazy afternoons or crisp autumn nights. They've got some cracking deals like 30% off mains, which is a nice touch if you're watching the pennies. On the flip side, it does get busy, especially on weekends, so you might want to book ahead to avoid any hassle. And while the prices are fair for what you get, they can add up if you're not careful, particularly for a group outing. Overall, it's a solid choice for anyone wanting a proper pub experience – honest, enjoyable, and with that welcoming feel that keeps you coming back for more.
Pros and Cons
Pros

The food is absolutely spot on – from hearty pies and steaks to delicious breakfasts, it's all cooked to perfection and full of flavour.

The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's a fantastic family-friendly spot with a beautiful beer garden and patio, perfect for relaxing on a sunny day or cosy evenings by the fireplace.
-
They've got a great selection of cask ales, craft beers, and wines, plus tempting offers like 30% off mains and roast days that make it even more appealing.
-
The atmosphere is welcoming and stylish, set in a lovely location opposite a country park, ideal for a casual lunch, dinner, or just drinks with mates.
Cons
-
It can get quite busy at times, which might mean waits for tables or service, even though the team handles it well.
-
With moderate prices, it might feel a bit pricey if you're planning a big night out or feeding a large group, so keep an eye on the bill.
-
Being opposite a country park is brilliant, but on quieter days or off-peak hours, it might not have that lively buzz some folks crave.

We dined in the restaurant Saturday lunch when we visited family in Nottingham. The Food was great, the waitresses were very quick and nothing was a problem. We have also had Christmas dinner here the year before last and it was amazing especially the beef. Will definitely be returning next time we are in the area. Thank you.
Had the most amazing breakfast cooked by the wonderful chef Alisha and presented to us with excellent service from Tracey.
There was a vast array of extras including croissants toast jams fruit and cereals all included in the price.
Will definitely be returning again.
Thank you all.
Took advantage of the 'Best ever pub pie' and wow, so glad we did. Delicious🤤
Absolutely full of tender meat served with creamy mash and veg with a delicious red wine sauce which deserves an extra thumbs up 😋
Went for dinner with family, the place was lovely and clean; staff were very welcoming and smiling. The menu was also easy to understand with a good variety of food. Our main course came quite fast, and the starter was delicious. The restaurant was quite busy but nonetheless the service was excellent. The toilets were clean and they surprisingly had hand sanitiser which most restaurants no longer have. For people with pets, they luckily have a corner where they provide bowls of water. Next to the pub there is also a hotel which a friend has given us a good word about in the past although we personally haven’t been. Fortunately the pub has a big, spacious car park with areas to charge electric cars. The outdoor seating was also lovely with a children play area as well. Staff were careful with my husband’s gluten allergy; as you can see in the photos they placed a stick in the burger to make it clear that it was gluten free. Reasonable prices and we also used a 30% voucher off main courses which we received in the post.
We had the mini fillet steak and pie - it was absolutely delicious. Our server Harriette was lovely, professional and very attentive. She made us feel very welcome which adds to a homely feel.
