About This Pub

Ah, Furzedown Brasserie – it's one of those places that just feels like a proper local haunt, you know? I've got to say, what really stands out is how the team goes out of their way to make everyone feel welcome; they're chatty and attentive without being over the top, which makes for a really enjoyable time whether you're nipping in for a quick coffee or settling in for the evening. The food's another winner – think creative tapas that's presented beautifully, massive portions of Sunday roasts that leave you stuffed for your money, and even things like truffle fries or burgers that hit the spot just right. It's got that community spirit nailed, perfect for a casual workday meet-up or a birthday bash with the family. On the flip side, though, the overall buzz isn't as glowing as it could be, with some folks mentioning hiccups that might stem from the hotel bit, so it pays to check what's what before you go. And watch out for those kitchen hours; they shut up shop for a bit in the afternoon, which could throw a spanner in the works if you're after a late lunch. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good night out – I'd pop in for the vibes and the grub, but keep expectations balanced for a well-rounded experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – super friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • The food is a real highlight, with creative dishes like tasty tapas, massive Sunday roasts, and juicy burgers that are reasonably priced and full of flavour.
  • It's got a lovely community vibe, perfect for casual catch-ups, remote working during the day, or lively evenings with drinks like local craft beers and seasonal cocktails.
  • The atmosphere transforms seamlessly from a relaxed daytime spot to a fun neighbourhood bar at night, ideal for celebrations or just unwinding with mates.
Cons
  • The overall rating isn't quite as high as you'd hope, suggesting there might be some inconsistencies in service or experiences that could put off a few visitors.
  • There are mentions of issues tied to the hotel side, which might spill over and affect the pub vibe, even though the food and drinks have improved lately.
  • Kitchen hours can be a bit tricky, with closures in the afternoon, so you might need to plan around that if you're popping in for a meal.

Recent Reviews

If you're after food and drink, take the review score with a shovelful of salt. Most of the negative reviews are about the hotel, and the pub/restaurant itself has also vastly improved in recent times. We really enjoyed the food - a nice menu including some great tapas, all creatively presented. There is a nice sunny beer garden for the warmer months, plenty of TVs for sporting events and the staff are friendly. This is now our go-to local in the Tooting / Streatham area.

Really lovely pub run by some really lovely people. Every time I'm there, they are all so lovely, serve so well and always up for a conversation so long as they don't have something important to do. Most of them seem to stay after their shift and their level of service is just as good even just for a chat or cleaning a table. I love this pub and I really wish it was closer to home!

Came over from Canary Wharf for a birthday celebration with family, and the service was absolutely superb . The food was good, and the staff were super friendly. The truffle fries were really good, as well as the double burger . Highly recommend for a nice chilled out day 👌
