About This Pub
Ah, the Fleece Inn in Penwortham – it's one of those pubs that feels like a proper community hub, you know? From what I've gathered from chats and reviews, it's brilliant for soaking up the atmosphere, especially during live sports events like the Women's Euros; they've got big screens both inside and in the lovely beer garden, which is spacious and well-maintained for those sunny days. The staff really shine through, always friendly and quick to serve, making it easy to pop in for a pint or a bite. They've got a good range of hand-pulled ales, lagers, and pub classics like burgers and pies that hit the spot for a casual meal. But let's be straight, it's not all perfect – some say the food quality varies, with cocktails being a bit of a letdown, and you might find certain guest ales off the menu now and then. Still, with its family-friendly setup and extras like free WiFi and outdoor play areas, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening out. If you're in Preston, I'd say give it a go; it's got that warm, inviting feel that makes you want to return, just keep expectations in check for the finer details.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing, especially if you're into watching sports – they've got big screens inside and out, perfect for catching the big games like the Women's Euros.
-
Staff are super friendly and efficient; from what I've heard, they're always cooperative and make you feel right at home.
-
The beer garden is a real gem – it's well-kept and spacious, ideal for a sunny afternoon with a pint or some food.
-
Food options are varied and come out quickly; things like hearty pies and burgers get good nods, and it's family and dog-friendly too.
-
It's got a community feel, being a historic Greene King pub with hand-pulled ales and a solid selection of drinks on tap.
Cons
-
Food quality can be a bit hit or miss; some dishes are spot on, but others aren't quite up to scratch, like the cocktails which a few folks found disappointing.
-
Guest cask ales might not always be available, which could disappoint if you're after something specific.
-
Serving hours are from midday onwards, so it's not the place for a cheeky early breakfast or morning coffee.

Great local pub with great facilities including big screen in garden. Good for watching sports inside and out. Food choices good, quality not great. Cocktails poor.
Fleece Inn Preston has an amazing atmosphere and the staff is doing a good job. They are cooperative and serve mouth watering food. Love to go there.
A Green king pub with a nice beer garden with plenty of well spaced tables. Spacious inside also. Simple ordering at the bar and swift service for the delivery of food. Friendly, efficient staff and the food was well presented and hot. My only gripe would be that the guest cask ales weren't available. Great pub to bring the kids and four legged friends
Had a great time here, food was amazing, sat in the beer garden which is lovely and well kept, staff were all friendly. Would definitely visit again.
We ordered some drinks to sit in the sun and some katsu chips. Beautiful food came in less than 10 minutes. Super accommodating and thank you to our lovely server Magpie! Deffo worth the visit
