About This Pub

Ah, Fernhurst in Blackburn – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a reliable go-to spot, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews and the website, it's all about that family-friendly charm, especially with its prime location near Ewood Park, making it ideal for catching the big games or grabbing a quick meal. The deals are an absolute winner; you can snag some seriously good value food options, like a hearty breakfast for peanuts, which is perfect if you're watching the pennies. The atmosphere sounds buzzing, with live sports on the screens and a welcoming feel that keeps everyone coming back. On the flip side, though, it's not all roses – a few folks have mentioned the service dragging its feet, and there've been grumbles about some meals not hitting the mark, like steaks that could do with a bit more care in the kitchen. Still, with an overall rating hovering around 3.9, it's clear most people have a good time, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area, just maybe not if you're in a rush. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening out with mates or family, balancing those affordable treats with a few areas that could use a tweak.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The deals here are brilliant, especially mid-week – you can get some cracking meals for a steal, like a full English for under a fiver!
  • It's got a fantastic atmosphere, perfect for watching live sports, with Sky and TNT Sports on the telly, making it a top spot for match days near Ewood Park.
  • The food selection is really varied and tasty, with plenty of options to suit everyone, and the beer choices are spot on too.
  • Being family-friendly means it's welcoming for all ages, and the ample parking makes it easy to pop in without any hassle.
  • The pub's well-located and has nice facilities like WiFi and even EV charging, so you can relax and enjoy your time without worrying about the basics.
Cons
  • Service can be a bit slow at times, like when food takes ages to arrive even if it's not too busy, which might put a dampener on things.
  • Some dishes, such as steaks, have had complaints about not being cooked properly or being a tad tough, so it's hit or miss with the quality.
  • While it's generally affordable, you might find the portions or certain items don't quite live up to expectations for the price.

Superb food, and beer, with ample match-day parking (£10 parking) A well-located pub, with very large inside with plenty of seating. Good food selection, served reasonably hot, although a little slow on the service. Great prices…. A Full English for under £5?! Amazing. Great beer selection and prices under £5 a pint so nothing to complain about compared to the South. Get to the pub/hotel 2 hrs before the football game at Blackburn Rovers and you’ll get parked.

Decided to come last night for our tea, although we were sat near the door we were pleasantly warm still, the atmosphere was welcoming, comfortable, everyone was visibly happy and enjoying themselves. Took us roughly 25 minutes to decide what food we wanted to order as there were so many options of food available to choose from and they all sounded delicious, ordering food was easy and the wait wasn't long either. The food was delicious, the mac and cheese side especially. We will have to try the desserts next time as we were too full after the food. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and the place was kept clean and tidy also. We will definitely be visiting again.

Me & The Mrs both had Steak. I had a sizzling platter with Peppers, Onions, Mushroom & Cheese with added Scampi & Halloumi cheese sticks. All was nice BUT both steaks were Naff! Tough as leather & not cooked correctly. It took 30 minutes to arrive & it wasn’t that busy, which i didn’t mind at the time because i was watching footy & drinking Guinness haha! After our meal, we moved to the bar area & stood waiting at the bar to be served for 10 minutes before we give up & went elsewhere. It wasn’t mad busy, but the wait times were mental! Don’t know if they are short staffed or what, but it has been much better in the past (before i started doing these reviews) To add, a small family came in with a small dog that was let off the lead (i’m not bothered because i love Dogs!!) but the man behind the bar told the man he couldn’t have a dog in the resturaunt part of the pub, the man said there’s nowhere else to sit with the dog, walked off & sat down & stayed there. Zero authority.
