About This Pub
Ah, the Fatling – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its welcoming charm right on Hornchurch High Street. I've got to say, the atmosphere is spot on; whether you're there for a live music night or catching the latest match, it always feels upbeat and full of energy. The food's a real highlight too – think mouthwatering Sunday roasts or a satisfying breakfast that sets you up for the day, and the staff go out of their way to make sure everyone's sorted, especially if you're after vegetarian options. Plus, that beer garden is an absolute treat when the weather's playing ball, ideal for a cheeky pint or two. On the flip side, though, the chips are a letdown; they're not quite as crispy as you'd want, so maybe skip those and go straight for the mains. And keep in mind it's adults only, which is fine for a mates' night but not so great if kids are in tow. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good time out, with plenty to love and just a couple of niggles to watch out for – I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you're in the area.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing, especially with live music and events that make it feel like a proper community hub.
-
Food hits the spot with tasty options like hearty roast dinners, delicious breakfasts, and even Indian-inspired dishes like chicken tikka masala.
-
Staff are really friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's a top spot for sports fans with loads of screens showing everything from football to Formula 1.
-
The beer garden is a gem on a sunny day, perfect for relaxing with a pint of real ale and watching the world go by.
Cons
-
The chips are a bit disappointing – they seem like oven ones rather than the crispy, properly fried sort you'd hope for.
-
It's strictly over 21s, so if you're planning a family get-together, you might have to look elsewhere.
-
Drink packages aren't available on weekends, which could put a dampener on things if you're after a deal for a big night out.

Only popped in here but have been here on a live music night. Good atmosphere very upbeat. Imagine it would be good when football is on but I don't like football so yeah. I'd say best pub in hornchurch.
I've always liked going to the Fatling, for many years now. Their breakfasts are great and well worth the money. The only thing which puts me off a lunch is their chips. Not good....oven ones I suspect. Definitely not like the twice/thrice fried ones at other venues. Avoid them.
1st time, I had a great roast dinner. My partner is vegetarian she had very good help in choosing her dinner. Great staff service
I have come back to this great pub for dinner and and a few drinks again. Having the chicken Tikka marsala with rice, mango chutney, poppadoms and Nann bread with chips
Had lunch today 😋 inside the pub, chicken tikka masala for my partner and all day breakfast for me.both meals very tasty..didn't wait long for food and barmaid very friendly. The pub is very clean and always kept nice.beer garden great in good weather. To cold to sit outside at the moment but lovely and warm inside.
