About This Pub
You know, when I think about Elsewhere Bar, it really stands out as one of those places that just gets it right – the staff are so approachable and make you feel like you're among friends, which is brilliant for a night out or even a casual coffee. The cocktails and brews are top-notch, and I appreciate the thoughtful touches like letting you bring in your own takeaway, which adds a nice flexible vibe without the hefty prices. It's got that warm, inviting atmosphere that's just right for unwinding, with board games on hand to liven things up if you fancy. On the flip side, it's a pity it's shut on Mondays and Tuesdays, as that limits your options for a spontaneous visit, and being a newer spot, it might not have the variety some folks expect just yet. All in all, if you're in Kendal, I'd say give it a go – it's got that genuine charm that'll likely win you over, but keep those quieter days in mind so you don't end up disappointed.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in – I loved how the owner, Mark, goes out of his way to chat and make everyone feel special.
-
They've got an amazing selection of cocktails and coffee that's spot on; it's great value too, with drinks that won't break the bank, and you can even bring your own takeaway if you buy a drink.
-
The atmosphere is just lovely – warm, cosy, and relaxed, with a chilled vibe perfect for catching up with mates, plus they've got board games to keep things fun.
-
It's a hidden gem in the heart of Kendal, buzzing just the right amount without being overwhelming, and it's ideal for a quick coffee or a proper night out.
Cons
-
It's closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, which is a bit of a shame if you're planning a mid-week visit and fancy a drink.
-
As a new bar, it might not have the full range of options yet, so if you're after a massive menu or live music every night, you could find it a tad limited.
-
The location in Wainwrights Yard means it's a bit tucked away, so you might miss it if you're not familiar with the area, and parking could be tricky in town.

Great coffee & cool relaxing ambience. The cocktail menu is amazing, shame I'm driving today but we'll be back! ☕️🍹🍹🍸🍸
We recently hosted a drop-in session at Elsewhere Bar, where people could stop by and learn more about our services. From our first interaction with Mark, communication was always friendly and clear. When we arrived to set up, the staff were incredibly welcoming and eager to assist in any way they could. The venue’s central location made it the perfect spot for our event, and the coffee was fantastic!
We were so pleased with the experience that we've already booked more sessions at Elsewhere Bar. Highly recommended!

By far and away the best bar in Kendal and possibly in the Lake District which is crazy as I heard its ot been open 4 months.
Staff are so friendly, and was fortunate to meet the owner, Mark who has the the friendliest customer service I could have hoped to encounter. I was on White Russians and it was made superbly.
I've been told that the Old Fashioned Cocktail is one they excel at and I'm looking forward to trying this again.
I was staying in Kendal as part of a lake district adventure and used Kendal as my base and now because of this place I'm far more likely to use Kendal as a base again.
This place is a hidden gem, and I hope that when Elsewhere bar becomes as popular as I reckon, it will be that it maintains its authenticity and zest for customer service.
Really nice new coffee shop for Kendal. Chilled atmosphere and good seating. It was really nice to have a new business in town that felt welcoming with a family atmosphere
I had an americano which was extremely competitively priced. The beans they have are from Farrers and I would argue that it could possibly be the best coffee made with those beans in Kendal.
Excellent new place in the town centre. Bustling, busy enough but not too busy, excellent choice of drinks, superb atmosphere, choice of board games to play to pass the time and amazing staff! Would definitely recommend to anyone living or visiting the town. 10/10
