About This Pub
Ah, the Duke of Cambridge – it's one of those pubs that just warms your heart from the moment you step in. The staff are absolute stars, always friendly and working hard to make sure you're looked after, and there's this lovely community feel where it feels like everyone's in on the fun. The ales are a real highlight, with a great selection that pairs brilliantly with affordable grub like a simple cob, making it an easy choice for a relaxed night out. On the downside, if you're after something darker on the beer front, you might be out of luck, and there have been a couple of grumbles about the odd pint not quite hitting the mark, which is a pity. The layout of the place and the beer garden can be a bit quirky too, so it might take a minute to get your bearings. All in all, it's a solid spot for a pint with mates, as long as you go in with realistic expectations – the good far outweighs the bad, but it's not without its little flaws.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready with a smile and a chat that makes you feel right at home.
-
It's got a fantastic selection of ales, perfect for those who fancy a proper pint, with options like Oakham Rhapsody that hit the spot.
-
The atmosphere is wonderfully homely and community-oriented, where you often find everyone knowing each other, giving it that true local pub vibe.
-
Great value for money – you can grab a cheese and onion cob and a drink for under £6, which is a bargain compared to other spots.
Cons
-
The beer selection can be a bit limited, with mostly pale ales and not much in the way of dark options, which might disappoint if that's your go-to.
-
Some drinks haven't lived up to expectations, like one reviewer finding their pint barely drinkable with a lingering aftertaste.
-
The building layout and beer garden feel a tad unusual and disjointed, which could make the place a bit confusing for first visits.
-
The car park is handy but not ideal for larger vehicles like vans, so it might not suit everyone arriving by car.

We love the people who go in there the staff are friendly pleasant and hard working and it's a local pub so everyone knows each ither
Proper pub great staff, better customers. Homely and fabulous selection of Ales
There's a useful sized car park next door, but probably not for vans.
I tried two ales as a sample and settled for the Oakham Rhapsody. I had a cheese and onion cob to go with it for less than £6. Cheaper than other Black Country Ales pubs
Another BCA pub where dogs are welcome.
It has a weird building extention layout and beer garden.
No dark ales on only relentless pale ales, so settled reluctantly on pictured that was barely drinkable _ could even smell the stench and faste ut 8 hours later. Exactly like the Penkridge BCA pub 4 different pumps had. Line clean?
Its salvation it has a decent size car park lifting it from a 1.
This is our local and they're always friendly and welcoming. Great beer and atmosphere
