About This Pub

So, I had a wander into Doherty’s Irish Bar the other day, and it's got this real welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home from the get-go. The staff are absolute gems – always up for a chat and quick to sort you out, which really adds to the fun atmosphere, especially with the live music pumping away. It's a great place to unwind with mates over a reasonably priced pint, and they've got a nice selection of stouts that go down a treat. On the downside, those stairs to the toilets are no joke; they're miles away and can feel like a hike when you're not expecting it. Plus, a few folks have mentioned the Guinness coming out a bit metallic or overly chilled, which might put off those who prefer it just so. All in all, with such high praise from most who've been, it's worth popping in if you're in Warrington – just keep those niggles in mind for a balanced night out.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
  • There's a lively atmosphere with live music and great vibes that keep things fun and engaging.
  • Drinks are reasonably priced, like a pint for just £5, which is spot on for a night out without breaking the bank.
  • It's got that authentic Irish charm with options like different stouts alongside the classic Guinness.
Cons
  • The stairs to the toilets are a real trek – they go on forever, which can be a bit of a nuisance after a few drinks.
  • Some pints, like the Guinness, might taste a tad metallic or be served too cold, which isn't ideal for purists.
  • It has a bit of a chain-like feel, more like an O'Neill's than a cosy local, so it might lack that unique touch.

On my first ever visit to Warrington town centre this was a decent little Irish bar with a different stout as well as Guinness. But the stairs to the toilet beat Wetherspoons for how far they are 😂

A decent Irish bar. Staff were very nice and the Guinness was poured very well. Unfortunately it was a bit metallic and quite cold, so not the best around. Very reasonably priced at £5 a pint. The atmosphere was ok, felt a very chain-like Irish theme, like an O'Neill's. I must say I went in the afternoon, which would definitely impact the vibe. I expect it'd be very good on a Friday evening - will have to come back to test!
