About This Pub

Ah, the Darwen Tap – what a lovely little find it is, tucked away on Blackburn Road. I have to say, it's one of those places that just feels right from the moment you step in; the beer is absolutely spot on, with that Guinness being a real highlight – poured to perfection and at a fair price too. The locals are dead welcoming, and it's brilliant for a quiet chat or soaking up the vibe inside, or even nipping out if the weather's playing ball. The contemporary furniture adds a nice touch, making it feel fresh and comfortable. On the other hand, it's a small spot, so if it gets busy, you might end up a bit squashed, and they do call last orders fairly early, around 10 PM, which means it's more suited to an evening wind-down rather than a late-night session. Still, for what it is, it's a cracking choice if you're after a relaxed pint without the fuss – I'd definitely pop in if you're in the area, as it's got that genuine community feel that's hard to beat.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is spot on, with a particularly brilliant Guinness that's beautifully poured and a great variety of ales to choose from.
  • It's got a warm and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for chatting with friendly locals and enjoying a relaxed vibe, whether you're inside or out on a nice day.
  • Prices are reasonable and won't break the bank, making it an affordable spot for a pint or two.
  • The contemporary furniture and cosy setup make it a comfortable place to settle in and have a proper natter.
Cons
  • It's a compact micro bar, so it can get a bit snug when it's busy, and you might struggle for space.
  • They tend to close early, around 10 PM most evenings, which could put a dampener on a longer night out.
  • There's no website or online presence, so it's tricky to check opening times or details before heading over.

Fairly busy, but easy to get served and a reasonable selection of beer on offer. Friendly customers having a chat without drowning out each other in the relatively compact interior. We had no trouble finding seating.

This old shop was turned into a mini pub/bar and is a refreshing cheaper alternative to owning a traditional pub I'm sure. It's an excellent idea and I hope more pop up just like it! Always quite busy and recommend trying the different ales on tap!
