About This Pub

Ah, the Crown Bar, tucked away on Main Street in Motherwell – I have to say, it's one of those places that just wins you over once you're inside. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this nostalgic feel, like a proper local boozer that's stayed true to its roots without all the modern fuss. People rave about how welcoming the staff are; they make you feel like part of the gang straight away, and the atmosphere's always buzzing with good chat and a friendly crowd. The pints are spot on and won't break the bank – think prices that take you back to the 90s, which is a rare treat these days. On the flip side, it's honest to admit that the outside looks a bit rough around the edges, so you might walk past it thinking it's not your scene, but that's a shame because it's worth a punt. And with no website to speak of, it's not the easiest to check out beforehand, but if you're in the area, I'd say give it a go for a proper, down-to-earth pub experience. Overall, it's got a solid 4.4 rating, and from the recent feedback, folks are loving it, so it's definitely one to add to your list for a relaxed pint with mates.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely spot on – it's got that proper old-school charm that makes you feel right at home, like stepping back in time.
  • Staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly; you'll feel like a regular from the moment you walk in, no matter if it's your first visit.
  • Pints are decent and surprisingly affordable, with prices that hark back to the 90s – great value for a good drink.
  • It's got a lively, good-natured vibe with plenty of patter and a welcoming crowd, making it perfect for a relaxed night out.
Cons
  • From the outside, it might look a bit neglected or even derelict, which could put you off at first glance – don't let that stop you from popping in.
  • There's no website or much online presence, so it's tricky to get the lowdown before you go, which might be a hassle if you're planning ahead.
  • The operating hours seem a tad inconsistent in the details, though it's open every day, so you might want to double-check to avoid any surprises.

Called in for a couple while we waited to check-in to our digs up the road. Walking passed you'd think it was derelict. Inside is a nostalgic nod to the past. A local boozer untouched by modernity. We were welcomed warmly and served a decent price at 1990's prices. Wasn't expecting it to be a Rangers pub considering it is in what we thought was Motherwell. Don't be scared if you are passing give it a whirl.

Must admit as an Englishman I didn't think I'd last long based on the appearance of the pub from the outside but I had a great night, staff were friendly drinks were good
