About This Pub

Ah, Cowtown Grill, what a find in Sale! I've got to say, chatting about this place feels like recommending a mate's favourite haunt. The grub here is spot on – think juicy burgers like the 3 Little Pigs or the Cowtown Signature, loaded with cheese, bacon, and all sorts of tasty toppings that really hit the spot. And don't get me started on the poutine; it's a proper Canadian classic done right, with crispy fries, cheese curds, and gravy that makes you wonder why we don't have more of this over here. From what I've seen in the reviews, everyone's raving about the flavours and how it's worth every penny, even if it nudges a bit above your everyday takeaway prices. On the flip side, it's mainly geared towards grabbing and going, so if you're after that relaxed pub atmosphere with a pint in hand and a table to linger at, it might not quite fit the bill – more of a quick feast than a full evening out. Still, with such high praise and a 4.5 rating, I'd say it's a winner for anyone up for something a tad different, just remember to check those evening hours and maybe give yourself a bit of time for the wait. All in all, it's a solid choice that balances brilliant food with a few quirks, making it worth sharing with your crowd.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – their burgers and poutine are packed with flavour and feel like a proper treat, especially if you're craving something American-inspired.
  • Prices are moderate and feel fair for the quality; it's a step up from your average takeaway, but you get bang for your buck with generous portions and fresh ingredients.
  • Service seems warm and welcoming based on the reviews; folks have mentioned friendly staff who make you feel right at home.
  • It's got a solid reputation with high ratings, so you can count on a reliable spot for a satisfying meal, whether it's wings, burgers, or those boozy shakes.
Cons
  • It might be a bit pricier than your standard chippy or pub grub, which could add up if you're popping in regularly.
  • Primarily set up for takeaway, so if you're after a cosy sit-down vibe with pints and chats, it doesn't quite deliver that full pub experience.
  • Opening hours are mostly evenings and not every day, which means it might not be ideal for a spontaneous lunch or if you're out and about early.
  • Some dishes take a little time to prepare, so if you're in a rush, you might have to plan ahead rather than grabbing something quick.

Fantastic take away from cowtown grill. Bang bang chicken wings, Lionel Messi poutine, Jackie Robinson burger and loaded fires. All the dishes were great - more expensive than your standard takeaway but well worth it. New favourite spot!

Surprisingly good! The Blackened Steak Poutine was a standout—so flavourful. The 3 Little Pigs burger hit the spot too. The pricing is also very reasonable for the quality.

Wow, I’m from central Kansas in the USA so I know good beef and burgers. This place was AMAZING! We are in town for the weekend and I am coming back at least one more time. Be patient. It takes time for them to prepare these burgers but it’s worth the wait. So good. 💪👍

Now the poutine here is amazing, I don’t usual go back to same place often but this place is an exception. The Keanu reeves poutine is very well balanced with a layer of chips in gravy with cheese curds followed by a bed of (Halal) BBQ USA beef brisket and long strands of crispy fried onions. Reasonably priced and a very warm welcome from the host. Everything a family run business should be.

I grew up in Sale, but left 22 years ago, & have returned to spend New Year with old friends. Stumbled across Cowtown when looking for somewhere close to our apartment for dinner & what a find!! Vanessa greeted us with a warm welcome & we loved the decor. We definitely had EBTB & ordered way too much food, so as delicious as every dish was, we had no hope of finishing it. Vanessa gave us a load of take away boxes & we’re now looking forward to the leftovers tomorrow. Without a doubt, a 10/10 restaurant. We’ll definitely be back.
