About This Pub
Ah, the Cotton Tree Inn, it's one of those pubs that just warms your heart the second you step inside, doesn't it? From what I've gathered chatting about it with friends, the staff really stand out – they're so welcoming and on point, whether you're there for a quiz night or just sinking a pint. It's got that classic pub feel, tied to the JW Lees brewery legacy, so the beers are spot on and won't break the bank, which is always a win. We've heard it's brilliant for families or even bringing the dog along, and the events like live music add a nice touch of excitement. On the other hand, it's tucked away a bit, so if you're not in the area, it might take a bit of effort to get to, and it can be on the quieter side some nights, which suits a peaceful evening but might not thrill if you're up for a proper party atmosphere. All in all, it's a solid choice for a genuine, down-to-earth pub experience – I'd say give it a go if you're after something heartfelt rather than flashy.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant, always greeting you with a warm smile and making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's got a fantastic atmosphere, perfect for enjoying well-run events like quizzes or live music, and it's a cosy spot to catch the latest game with mates.
-
Being part of the historic JW Lees brewery means the beers are top-notch, and with inexpensive prices, you can have a proper night out without spending a fortune.
-
The traditional pub vibe is just lovely – it's family-friendly and even welcomes dogs, making it a great place for a relaxed get-together.
Cons
-
It's a bit out of the way in Middleton, so it might not be the easiest spot to pop into if you're not local or driving.
-
Some evenings can feel quite quiet, which is charming for a chilled chat but might not hit the spot if you're after a lively buzz all the time.

Went to a pub quiz, well run quiz...Good atmosphere in pub
A quiet, out of the way, pleasant little local pub... Visited with the better half to give it a whirl so to speak and was greeted and served straight away, staff and people were pleasant and polite and had a warm and welcoming feeling to it...
The only negative, and the sole reason I couldn't give it a 5 stars, was that there isn't a beer garden, with the exception of a couple of benches around the side of the building. Could just be me being picky but other than that small detail, I couldn't fault it! 👍🏼

Went to The Cotton Tree last night to see Garth Brookes Country Singer tribute act, who was amazing!!! Really fantastic night.. never been in this pub before. From when we stepped out of our taxi on our arrival we were made to feel so welcome by the lovely Landlady and her regulars throughout the evening.. Me and my husband will definitely be visiting again...Thank You again for a brilliant night 😘😘😘😘
Beautiful, traditional pub ran by a fantastic landlord and landlady. Bar staff are excellent and it's just a really friendly pub. They are following all the Covid rules, unlike some places and have a small beer garden for the good weather.
