About This Pub

Ah, Cooksons Bridge Pub – it's one of those places that just hits the spot for a good old chinwag and a drink without any fuss. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are absolute gems, always up for a laugh and making sure everyone feels included, whether you're a regular or just passing through. That family-oriented feel is spot on too; it's great to see a pub that's open to kids and dogs, turning it into a proper community hub rather than just a quiet boozer. And let's not forget the stunning canal views – it's a proper treat to sit back with a pint and watch the world go by, especially after a long walk. On the flip side, though, it's a shame there's not more online presence; without a website or easy way to get in touch, you might end up winging it and hoping for the best. Plus, while the atmosphere shines, the food doesn't get much mention, so if you're after a hearty meal, you might want to look elsewhere or keep expectations in check. All in all, it's a solid choice for us pub enthusiasts looking for good company and a welcoming vibe, but it's worth keeping those little niggles in mind for a balanced outing.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • It's got a lovely relaxed atmosphere, perfect for a casual catch-up with mates or even popping in on your own for a chat.
  • Family-friendly vibes all the way – they welcome kids and dogs, which is a real bonus if you're out with the little ones or your furry friend.
  • The location by the canal is just spot on, offering a peaceful spot to enjoy a drink and soak in the surroundings, especially on a sunny day.
Cons
  • There's not much info online, like no website or phone number, which makes it a bit tricky to check things out before heading over.
  • Food options seem a bit hit or miss; some folks haven't tried it or mentioned it, so it might not be the main draw here.
  • The operating hours look a tad confusing from what's listed, which could leave you scratching your head about when to drop by.

Our favourite place to drink, have been coming here for years, always a friendly welcome and amazing staff. I know I could go in on my own and there would always be someone to chat too. They welcome kids and dogs to which is a bonus for us, brilliant service and a family atmosphere what more could you need. Keep up the good work xx

Was struggling in the heat on my bike along the canal, I'm diabetic and had low blood sugar, saw the pub and got a couple of cokes and a pint. Nice and relaxed with sound locals. Looks like the type of pub to have friendly banter. Loved it, even though I couldn't stay for very long. Chris.
