About This Pub
Ah, the Chichester Arms, it's one of those pubs that just feels like a local gem in Chester, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, it's got this warm, welcoming energy that makes you want to settle in for the evening. The staff are absolute stars – friendly and helpful without being over the top – and the prices are a breath of fresh air, especially when you can grab a decent steak or a bottle of wine for less than you'd expect. Events like karaoke and open mic nights really bring the place to life, with great local talent and a fun crowd, plus there's a pool table and a beer garden for a bit of outdoor chilling when the sun's out. On the flip side, though, the ale selection isn't the most exciting, so if you're a real ale enthusiast, you might want to look elsewhere. And while they've dipped their toes into food, it's not always on offer, which could be a letdown if you're planning a full meal. The hours are a tad late starting, too, so it's not ideal for a quick lunchtime pint. All in all, it's a cracking little spot for good times without breaking the bank, but it's worth keeping those quirks in mind to set your expectations right – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff and landlord are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
Prices are spot on – it's inexpensive, with drinks and even food coming in cheaper than some big chains, which is a real win for a night out.
-
They've got a great vibe with fun events like karaoke and open mic nights, plus a pool table and a cosy outside beer garden for when the weather's nice.
-
The pub is always clean and tidy, and the atmosphere is just lovely, with locals being chatty and the overall feel being warm and inviting.
-
If you're into a good pint, they've got some cracking options, like what folks say is the best Guinness in Chester.
Cons
-
The choice of ales is a bit limited, so if you're after a wide variety, you might find it lacking compared to other spots.
-
Food options seem hit or miss – they've started doing it recently, but some visits might just be drinks only, which could disappoint if you're hungry.
-
Opening times are on the late side, starting at 2 PM, and it's closed one day a week, so it might not suit early birds or those wanting a full seven-day option.
-
From what I've seen, the outside area is just adequate, nothing fancy, so it might not wow you on a busy day.

Really great traditional pub with pool table and outside beer garden. Not too expensive either.
The locals are all friendly. And the owners are the nicest people I have met.
Look out for events like 80s night and karaoke.
Best pint of Guinness in Chester! Served by a true Irish gentleman ☘️🍺
Called in here for a pint on the way home. There isn't much choice of ales just the basics. They do offers on shots and gin. The pub only reopened in December 2022. They definitely don't do food here at all drinks only with a pool table.
This place is such a friendly place in town! My mates and I have visited in the past for a few pints and drunk karaoke and we had a blast! Would recommend for drunk karaoke nights! haha
Don't go all that often but honestly can't complain. When we do the service is good the outside area is adequate the pub is clean and there's a nice atmosphere 😊 the open mic night is an absolute hit! Great local talent and fab hosts.
