About This Pub

Ah, the Cheshire Line – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Cheadle, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food really steals the show; folks rave about the carvery and roasts, saying they're hot, tasty, and great value, perfect for a Sunday treat or a mid-week pick-me-up. The staff come across as genuinely lovely, always ready with a smile and efficient service that makes you feel right at home, whether you're there for a family birthday or just a casual catch-up. It's got that warm, inviting atmosphere that's ideal for all sorts, including bringing along your dog for a pint in the garden on a sunny day. On the flip side, it does have its moments where things aren't quite perfect – a few have mentioned the pub itself feeling a bit ordinary or that it can get crowded, leading to slower service when it's packed. Still, with a solid overall rating, it's clear this place does a lot right, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're after a hearty meal and good company, just maybe pop in on a quieter day to avoid any potential hitches.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely brilliant – think hearty carveries, roasts, and tasty options like bacon baps that leave you feeling well satisfied without costing a fortune.
  • The staff are so friendly and welcoming, always going the extra mile to make your visit enjoyable, just like chatting with mates behind the bar.
  • It's a proper family-friendly spot with a cosy atmosphere, perfect for gatherings, and they've got a lovely pub garden for soaking up the sun with a drink in hand.
  • Dog-friendly vibes make it easy to pop in with your furry companion, adding to that relaxed, community feel.
  • They've got a great lineup of events and offers, like Sunday lunches and daily deals, which really enhance the traditional pub experience.
Cons
  • One or two visits might not hit the mark quite as well, like in that review where the overall pub experience felt a bit underwhelming despite the food being good.
  • It can get quite busy at times, which might mean waits for a table or service that's a tad slower when things are buzzing.
  • Portions or specific choices, such as the carvery sides, could vary a little, so it pays to check what's on offer on the day.

Popped in recently to try the carvery under the new owners and was really impressed with the food! There was a nice choice of meats and sides, everything was hot and tasty, and the price was very fair for what you get. Definitely worth a visit if you’re after a hearty meal. That said, the pub itself could really do with a good clean and a bit of updating. The layout doesn’t quite work—it feels a bit cluttered and could be better arranged for a more comfortable experience. Also, the way things are run seems a little disorganised at the moment, which takes away from the overall experience. The potential is definitely there, especially with how good the food is—it just needs some attention to the environment and smoother management. Will be keeping an eye out to see how things improve!

Came here after our Dad was admitted to the nearby hospital- was pleasantly surprised with the food options and price. We went for the roast dinner for £11- go for the small as they all end up being the same size anyway! Would recommend- friendly vibe and staff. Given very good slices of meat vs the likes of Toby Carvery.
