About This Pub

Ah, Charlton House in Dudley – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local haunt, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this brilliant mix of cheap drinks and a really homely atmosphere that makes you want to linger for hours. The staff sound like absolute stars, always up for a chat and making sure everyone's looked after, which really adds to the charm. Plus, if you're after a solid breakfast to kick off your day, folks rave about how epic and wallet-friendly they are here. On the flip side, though, there are a couple of downsides that might put a dampener on things – like the occasional strictness with entry after a certain time, which has left some feeling a bit miffed, and the management not always hitting the mark. Overall, with a solid 4.3 rating, it's clear this place does a lot right for a casual get-together, but I'd say it's best to plan ahead and go in with realistic expectations to make the most of it. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth a visit for that authentic pub experience, but keep an eye out for those little niggles to keep your evening smooth sailing.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The drinks are incredibly affordable, making it a brilliant spot for a budget-friendly night out with mates.
  • The staff are super friendly and welcoming, always going the extra mile to make you feel right at home.
  • It's got a really warm and lively atmosphere, with a good jukebox and that genuine Black Country vibe that's hard to beat.
  • The place is spotlessly clean, which is always a plus when you're settling in for a pint or even a hearty breakfast.
  • They serve up epic breakfasts that offer great value, perfect for starting your day without breaking the bank.
Cons
  • There can be issues with entry if you arrive late, as they've got strict rules about who gets in after a certain time, which might spoil your plans.
  • The management doesn't always come across as helpful, based on a few experiences shared by visitors, which can leave a sour taste.
  • The operating hours seem a bit confusing at times, with mixed info that might make it tricky to know when it's best to pop by.

Went Sat night. 5 of us. £19 a round. That's 2 spirits (doubles) and 3 pints. Bargain! Good atmosphere, you get a Black Country welcome. No airs and graces. Good jukebox, gaffer and staff friendly.

Edited previous review.... Bang for buck, the best breakfast in Dudley for the price. You need to do a child size breakfast though because my pal Dean is a big flange and he can't eat a full one. :) Breakfasts here are epic and by far the best in Dudley.
