About This Pub
Ah, Chapeltown Tap – it's one of those local spots in Sheffield that really hits the mark for a relaxed evening with mates. From the reviews, I'm chuffed about the incredible variety of gins and rums; it's like a treasure trove for anyone who loves trying something new, and the staff sound like they're always up for a chat and sharing tips on what to order. The rustic setup with its mismatched furniture gives it that homely, unpretentious charm, making it ideal for a good old laugh or even celebrating something special like an engagement party. And don't get me started on the Yorkshire tapas – a proper treat on Saturdays! But, to keep it real, there are a few downsides that cropped up. A couple of folks mentioned the seats being uncomfortably hard, which might put a damper on settling in for the night. Then there's that odd review about a barmaid being a bit abrupt and calling time early, which isn't ideal when you're just winding down. It's not the bargain basement either, so if you're on a tight budget, you might think twice. Overall, though, I'd say it's worth popping in if you're nearby – the highs definitely outweigh the lows, but just go in with your eyes open for those little quirks.

Cons
-
Some seats, especially by the window, can be a bit hard and uncomfortable for longer stays
-
Occasional service issues, like one instance of a barmaid being rude and rushing folks out early
-
Not the cheapest option in the area, which might put off those watching their wallet

Limited choices in ciders, so if that's your go-to, you might feel a bit short-changed
-
The chairs aren't the most inviting for lingering when it's quiet, making it less ideal for a long session

We went for an engagement party and it was great. The only slight negative was the seats next to the window were a bit hard.
We are quite regular customers to the bar. Last night was one of the worst experiences , the bar maid was so rude she said she called time at 22.35hrs. At 23.05 she asked us to leave we were just finishing our drinks. She said she only got paid till 11pm. The bar is not the cheapest in the area and up till now was one of our favourite places to go in Chapeltown. We won't visit again if this person is working !!
Lovely local gins and rums with a fair selection of ales. Needs a sofa or two as when it's quiet, the chairs don't encourage you to stay long.
Such great venue. Fab for laughing and chatting, easy and relaxed. Limited choices in a cider ...but hey its a gin bar . And the one I decided on was a new one to me and very palatable . Rustic tables, mismatched chairs just all fit together
Fantastic range of gins - over 64 to choose from when we visited. The draft ales regularly change, and the bar staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The Yorkshire tapas on Saturday's is great, can beat a cracking piece of pork pie!
