About This Pub

Ah, the Cemetery Hotel – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Rochdale, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this warm, inviting vibe where the staff go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, and the cask ales are spot on for a relaxing pint. The food's another winner; folks rave about the freshly made nachos, plump prawns, and those Sunday roasts that seem to outshine the rest in the area – it's all about hearty, well-prepared meals that leave you satisfied. Plus, the place is immaculately clean, with nice little surprises like free sanitary products in the bathrooms, which shows they really think about the details. On the flip side, though, parking's a bit of a nightmare, so you might want to plan ahead or be prepared for a short walk. And let's be honest, some drinks can feel a smidge expensive compared to nearby options, and if you're in a rush, the food might take longer than you'd like, with a few dishes not quite hitting the mark. Overall, it's a solid spot for a catch-up with mates, especially if you're after that authentic pub feel, but keep an eye on your wallet and your timing for the best experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of cask ales and other drinks that really hit the spot for a proper pub experience.
  • The food is a highlight – think delicious freshly made nachos with pulled pork, tasty prawn starters, and top-notch Sunday roasts that beat the competition.
  • It's kept spotlessly clean, with thoughtful touches like free sanitary products in the ladies' bathrooms – those little extras make all the difference.
  • The pub has a great traditional layout with separate rooms, giving it that classic English pub charm, and the jukebox adds a fun vibe for a singalong or two.
Cons
  • Parking can be a real hassle, so you might end up walking a bit or dealing with the frustration of finding a spot.
  • Some pints feel a tad pricey compared to other local spots, which might make you think twice before ordering another round.
  • Food can take a while to arrive, and occasionally it doesn't quite live up to the wait – like those frozen chips that weren't as hot or impressive as hoped.
  • It's not always the most value-for-money option, especially if you're after a quick, affordable bite alongside your drink.

Great example of an English pub. The welcome is friendly and the pub still divides into several rooms unlike the modern open plan design.

I attended here following a funeral and it was spotlessly clean, staff were incredibly kind and friendly and the food we got for the wake was delicious I used the bathroom and was blown away by the fact that ladies bathrooms had a range a of free sanitary products in each stall it's the small things that make a big difference!

It was quite expensive for a pint ale compared to other public houses around town. Food was quite a long wait in arriving , but it wasn't really worth the wait. The frozen cooked chips were the only hot thing on my plate. There are much better places to eat and drink around town.
