About This Pub

Ah, Catford Bridge Tavern, what a gem it is down in London! I've got to say, it's one of those places that just hits the spot for a relaxed catch-up with friends over a cold beer. The craft beers are fantastic, with a solid selection that keeps things interesting, and the Sunday roasts are something to rave about – perfectly cooked with all the trimmings, and they've nailed the veggie options too, which is brilliant for everyone. The staff are an absolute delight, always cheerful and ready to help, making you feel right at ease from the moment you walk in. Plus, with events like the beer festival and DJ nights, there's always a bit of excitement in the air. On the flip side, though, it's not flawless; I heard from a mate that the pork in their roast was a tad disappointing once, so maybe give the other choices a go if you're unsure. And watch out for those opening hours, as they can vary a bit, which might spoil plans for a cheeky nightcap. All in all, it's a solid choice for us pub lovers – worth a visit for the good vibes and great food, just keep expectations balanced and you'll have a cracking time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The craft beers and drink selection are top-notch, with a great variety including local brews and always a few cask options on tap – it's a real treat for beer enthusiasts.
  • Their Sunday roasts are absolutely spot on; think giant Yorkshires, crispy roasties, and lashings of gravy, with solid veggie and vegan choices too.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always going the extra mile to make you feel at home, like chatting with the bar team who remember your name.
  • It's got a cosy, snug atmosphere with a lovely beer terrace for enjoying a pint outdoors, perfect for catching up with mates on a sunny day.
  • They host fun events like the Catford Beer Festival and DJ nights, adding a lively vibe and making it more than just your average local pub.
Cons
  • Some dishes can be hit or miss; for instance, the pork in their roast wasn't quite up to par in one visit, so it might not always be consistently brilliant.
  • The operating hours seem a bit variable, with different closing times listed, which could catch you out if you're planning a late one.

Literally just had my first meal in London. No clue where I am, no idea where stuff is. But a nice pint and the idea of a steak and fries felt comforting. The boys behind the bar were super nice, very accommodating - shoutouts to Gabriel for treating me very well. If I lived here, I’d probably be here most of the week.

One of the best roasts in south east by a mile. Regular DJ nights and with fantastic house and techno, staff are great and friendly, and there’s a genuinely good drink selection where there’s almost always at least one cask on tap by usually three. Vibe can be a mixture of a cozy living room on some days, family friendly on weekend afternoons, and more lively the evenings depending on the night. Two beer gardens, one heated. Little on the pricier side now but still reasonable and far better than north London. Overall a very well managed pub compared to what it used to be. To improve: get a lock on the toilet door, have gravy on the pies during the week - the kitchen is otherwise top notch

Had a delicious vegetarian roast here. Staff were friendly, helpful and the roast was genuinely one of the best I’ve had. Excellent flavours, crispy potatoes and sufficient gravy!

Review of Catford Bridge Tavern Roast I love Catford Bridge Tavern as a local spot. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff are always friendly and professional, which adds to the welcoming vibe of the place. Recently, we went for a roast and had a mixed experience. The pork was a bit of a letdown—the crackling wasn't crackling at all, and the skin was unfortunately soggy. The chicken was fine, but nothing special. The gravy was quite watery and lacked flavor, and the roast potatoes were dry and hard, which made them difficult to enjoy. On the positive side, the cauliflower cheese was fantastic—creamy, cheesy, and perfectly cooked. We also really enjoyed the wine, which complemented the meal nicely. Overall, the venue itself is great and worth a visit, though the roast could use a few tweaks to live up to the rest of the experience.
