About This Pub
Ah, the Black Cat – it's one of those unassuming pubs in London that you might walk past without a second glance, but once you're inside, it's got this genuine, homely feel that's hard to beat. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's all about that laid-back vibe where you can pop in for a quick drink and end up chatting away with the locals. The prices are spot on, making it a great spot if you're watching the pennies, and if you're into your sports, they've got the big games on with Sky and TNT, plus a pool table and darts to keep things lively. I love how the staff are so approachable – even the owner might challenge you to a game! On the flip side, the beer options are pretty basic, no cask ales to speak of, so it might not wow the ale enthusiasts among us. And sometimes it can feel a bit dim or quiet, especially earlier in the day, but it livens up as more folks trickle in. Overall, it's a dependable choice for a good night out without the fuss, and with a solid 4.2 rating, I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just go in with realistic expectations and you'll have a cracking time.

This pub was the Catford Ram back in the day, a Young's pub. It's now independent. I hadn't been in there for years, which is a shame as I have discovered a gem! I popped in with a friend for a quick drink, just to check it out. It had a relaxed, friendly vibe, a proper local pub with different screens for sports, a pool table and some music. The pool was popular, with customers chalking up their names for the next game.
I liked it so much, that I went there on NYE with a friend to check out DJ Betty who was great! Real mix of music - Reggae, Ska, Disco, Motown, 80's/90's.
Everyone was genuinely friendly, the bar staff were great, and we had a great dance! Very impressed with the cost of drinks. We had Gordon's Pink gin and tonic, plus a bar snack for just over £11 which I reckon is the cheapest in Catford. I enjoyed the scampi fries- I hadn't eaten a packet in years!
We are losing so many pubs, it's great to find one that prides itself on being a proper traditional local boozer that really felt like it reflected the Catford community (important with the more recent gentrification in the area).
We will definitely be back. I urge people to check it out. You won't be disappointed. Cheers 🥂
Great prices, friendly service and a decent pub. No cask, but lots of bottled options
Great atmosphere and all the locals are friendly. Great for sky and tnt sports. Pool table and darts. Staff are friendly and the drinks are reasonably priced. Even the owner (Jesse) will play you a game of pool, but be warned he is good.
A decent pub in Catford town centre which has darts, pool and plenty of sport on the telly.
Beer selection was quite straightforward and well priced too. Was quiet in the early afternoon and then got busier as the afternoon wore on with all sorts characters coming in.
You can’t knock the pub for value that’s for sure. There’s also a jukebox in case you want to stick some tunes on.
This pub can be great. Fantastic space, clean and fairly good priced drinks. There is a menu of exceptional freshly made Caribbean (Barbados) food available there as well, made by well known Barbadian female chef Shaun Walcott. However the atmosphere is very gloomy. A weekend DJ and television for sports will not go amiss just to lively up the venue a bit.
