About This Pub

Ah, Castle Hotel Blackpool – it's one of those places that really captures the spirit of a classic UK pub, you know? From what I've gathered chatting about it with others, it's got this lively vibe that's perfect if you're in town for a bit of fun and want to catch live sports on their big screens. The staff are absolute gems, always up for a laugh and keeping the place tidy, which makes you feel right at home. Plus, with all those drink deals and a central spot, it's brilliant value for a night out without breaking the bank. On the flip side, it's not all roses; some folks have mentioned dodgy entertainment like DJs with jokes that miss the mark, and it can be quieter than you'd hope on certain evenings, which might leave you wanting more buzz. Still, overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed pint or a game of pool, as long as you go in with realistic expectations – after all, it's about enjoying the good times with friends, warts and all.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is always buzzing, especially if you're there for live sports – plenty of big screens showing football, rugby, and more, making it a top spot for catching the game with mates.
  • Staff are really friendly and welcoming; from the bouncers who are chatty and polite to the bar team keeping things spotless and serving up great pints quickly.
  • It's affordably priced with unbeatable drink offers, and the central location in Blackpool makes it dead easy to pop in after a day out exploring.
  • There's a good mix of entertainment like pool tables, darts, and even a beer garden, plus it's family-friendly in parts during certain hours.
Cons
  • Some evenings can feel a bit lacklustre, like it was empty on New Year's Eve in one review, which might put you off if you're after a lively crowd.
  • Entertainment isn't always spot on – we've heard tales of DJs making dodgy jokes that cross the line, which could spoil the fun for some folks.
  • As it's both a pub and a hotel, expectations might not match up; it's cheap and cheerful, but you won't get luxury vibes here.

I really liked this hotel, its cheap and cheerful. My bed and room was comfortable and clean. The staff were very friendly. It's a cheap hotel, you cannot expect 5star accommodation for the prices.

Awful pub. Racist, sexist and jokes picking on disabled people. First DJ. Should be sacked. Second DJ offering a "request show". Really. We requested some rock. Doesn't have it on his computer. Pub is empty at 8pm new years eve.
