About This Pub

Ah, Calico Lounge – it's one of those places in Chorley that just feels like a proper gem when you step inside. I've got to say, the food really steals the show; whether it's a hearty breakfast, tasty tapas, or something from their specials like Cheeky Mondays, it's all fresh and full of flavour, with plenty of choices to suit different tastes and dietary needs. The service is spot on too – quick and attentive, which makes popping in for a bite or a drink feel effortless, especially with those tempting deals that keep things affordable. The space itself is light and airy, with that industrial nod to Chorley's history, and it's super accessible, which is a big plus for everyone. On the flip side, if you're after something light or a quick snack, the options might not be as varied as you'd hope, and some prices do sting a bit, like on certain breakfast items. It can get packed, mind you, so planning ahead is wise if you don't fancy waiting around. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed catch-up or family meal – I'd definitely recommend giving it a go for a balanced, enjoyable experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – fresh, tasty, and with loads of options for everyone, including brilliant gluten-free, vegan, and kids' menus, so it's perfect for groups with different needs.
  • Service is top-notch; it's quick and friendly, making you feel right at home, especially with those great deals like Tapas Tuesdays or the Cocktail Club.
  • The atmosphere is lovely – light, airy, and welcoming with big windows and a bit of outdoor terrace, plus it's wheelchair accessible and even dog-friendly for a relaxed vibe.
  • It's got a high rating for a reason, with most folks raving about the generous portions and overall experience, making it a go-to spot in Chorley.
Cons
  • The menu can feel a bit limited if you're just after a quick snack, with some saying the choices aren't as varied for lighter bites.
  • A few things might come across as pricey, like that £9.50 quesadilla, which could put off those watching their wallet.
  • Not everyone's a fan of the specifics, such as using Brioche for burgers, which might not hit the spot for traditional tastes.
  • It gets busy quite often, so you might have to wait or book ahead to snag a table without any hassle.

Met family here on fathers day. Food arrived promptly and all freshly prepared and very tasty. Our son-in-law and I had The Big Lounge Breakfast. My daughter went for the Eggs Benedict and my wife had the Tuna melt. All very satisfying. Looking forward to a return visit soon 🙂

The food was fresh & tasty, choices limited should you want a snack only. I'm not keen on Brioche for Burgers. The menu is preset. Service for drinks was excellent. It was one of our parties Birthday & they did put a candle ( which we'd brought) in the Cake & provide us with a knife & plates to eat this.

Early lunch midweek, was over half full. As all a huge and clear gluten free menu (vegan menu also large and easily available) Chose the 3 tapas plate. Tasty but would chose differently next time. Gf marked with red flags (lamb kofta, sweetcorn fritters, feta +gf toast) Nice to have background music kept low so we could easily chat. Would visit again. Parking at at flat iron is 2 hours limit

Not very many nice places to eat in Chorley Town Centre. This place is quite nice.. always full and not badly priced, it caters to many tastes.... from Tapas to Sandwiches, Salads to Soups... we had breakfast... the quesadilla was lovely... full of flavour.... was a bit gutted that it was £9.50 and very small, however, by the time i had finished it, it was actually enough and I was being greedy with my eyes only! Wish there were more places in the town centre like this.
