About This Pub

Ah, The King George in Hale – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, you know? From what I've gathered, it's spot on for a relaxed afternoon or evening out; the Sunday roast comes highly recommended, with folks raving about how tasty and satisfying it is, and the staff really go the extra mile to make sure everyone's looked after. It's particularly brilliant if you're into your football, being so close to Altrincham FC, where you can grab a beer and soak up that matchday buzz with a good selection of brews on tap. The outdoor areas are a nice touch for when the weather's playing ball, and there's parking nearby, which is always a bonus. On the flip side, it might have had a bit of a dull feel back in the day, but it sounds like they've warmed it up considerably, and the lack of a website can make it a tad frustrating if you're trying to plan ahead. All in all, it's a solid choice for a pint and a chat – worth popping in for, especially if you're in the area, as it strikes a nice balance of traditional pub charm with friendly service.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The Sunday roast is an absolute winner – it's hearty, delicious, and a real treat for a proper pub lunch.
  • Staff are always friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's got a great atmosphere, especially for football fans; it's just a stone's throw from Altrincham FC and buzzing before matches.
  • They've a solid selection of beers, like JW Lees, which go down a treat.
  • Plenty of outdoor space for seating and even a smoking area, plus handy parking if you time it right.
Cons
  • It used to have a bit of a cold and drab vibe in the past, though it seems they've turned things around nicely.
  • No website means it's a bit tricky to check out the menu or opening times online before heading over.

What a fantastic pub. I've been in for food a couple of times recently, and haven't been disappointed. Their Sunday roast offer is incredible and the staff are friendly and attentive. Will be returning!

A brilliant pub for Home And Away fans to mix together before the Altrincham games, good spaces outside for seating and smoking area if needed, plus a small car park at the side (if you get there early enough).

I am really impressed by The King George now, its always felt cold, and drab, and I have rarely seen any other customers. Today....its fabulous. Great atmosphere, warm and welcoming. Absolutely no reason to leave. Staff are friendly and helpful. We might just have found our new favourite spot. Dog friendly, child friendly, and definitely family friendly. Not sure what's changed but it certainly works.
