About This Pub
Ah, the Bate Hall Hotel – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Macclesfield. I've got to say, the warm welcome you get as soon as you walk in really sets the tone; it's all about those familiar faces and a good old chat over a pint. The beer garden is a lovely spot when the sun's out, letting you enjoy al-fresco vibes without any fuss. And if you're up for some entertainment, their Friday karaoke nights are brilliant – the DJ knows how to get the crowd going, and it's just superb for a laugh. The food's spot on too, with quick service and fair prices that won't break the bank. On the flip side, it does have a bit of a rough edge sometimes, like in one of the reviews where it felt a tad unrefined, so it might not be everyone's cup of tea if you're after something more upscale. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out or catching up with friends – I'd definitely pop in if you're in the area, as long as you're up for a bit of genuine pub character, good and bad!

I'm new to the area and discovered karaoke on Friday nights.
Absolutely superb. Lovely pub , great atmosphere and the DJ is excellent. Definitely recommend 👍
Amazing food, really quick service. Good prices. Really good atmosphere. Landlady is awesome.
After a work event in Macclesfield, we couldn’t resist stopping by this historic pub, especially since it was featured on TV as the most haunted pub in the UK.
The atmosphere was warm and inviting, both from the landlords and the locals. The drinks were reasonably priced.
The highlight of our visit was the private tour the landlord gave us. He took us around the original 16th-century staircase, and told us the stories surrounding the 'Ghosts' that live in the pub. When we reached the upper floor, then leading to the ‘haunted attic,’ it felt truly eerie and otherworldly—definitely added a bit of thrill to the experience!
If you’re in the area and curious about the paranormal, it’s a must-visit, but even if you’re not into ghosts, the history and charm of this pub make it worth the stop.
A bit rough but service was good 👍🏻
Went to a friends party the staff were marvellous, some of us had disabilities and they organised ramps for us. Well done to everyone 👏
