About This Pub
Ah, Bombay Bridgford – what a gem it is for anyone fancying a solid Indian meal in the heart of Nottingham. I've got to say, the food really steals the show; it's all about those fresh, well-balanced flavours from across India, with specials that keep things exciting, like new recipes straight from the subcontinent. The team there are an absolute delight, always up for a chat and happy to tweak things to your liking, which makes the whole experience feel personal and welcoming. It's spot on for a group gathering or even a cheeky Christmas lunch, as some folks have raved about, and being right by the cricket ground and pubs, it's dead convenient if you're out and about. On the flip side, it can get a tad loud with the chatter and crowds, so if you're after a quiet catch-up, you might want to nab a table at the back. Oh, and watch out for those portion sizes on certain dishes – they might leave you eyeing up an extra side. All in all, it's a place I'd happily recommend for a satisfying curry night, as long as you go in with the right expectations for a restaurant vibe rather than a straight-up pub crawl.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – authentic Indian dishes with fresh ingredients and a great variety of flavours from all over India, making every meal feel like a proper treat.
-
Service is warm and attentive; the staff go out of their way to help, even with custom requests or advice on specials, which really makes you feel looked after.
-
It's got a buzzing atmosphere, perfect for a casual night out or special occasions, and it's in a prime spot near Trent Bridge and local pubs, so it's easy to pop in after a match or a pint.
-
Prices are moderate, offering good value for the quality, whether you're dining in or grabbing a takeaway with free delivery options.
Cons
-
It can get quite noisy, especially with larger groups, which might make it hard to chat if you're after a more relaxed vibe.
-
Some portions, like the dhal in one case, might feel a bit on the small side for a main, leaving you wanting just a little more to fill up.
-
While it's a top-notch Indian restaurant, if you're specifically craving that classic pub feel with beers and bar snacks, it might not quite hit the mark as it's more focused on curry and dining.

5 stars – A Hidden Gem with Exceptional Service!
I was dined at Bombay Bridgford tonight and was absolutely blown away. I requested something a little different – a sizzling grilled platter of fish, salmon, shrimp, mushrooms, and onions – even though it wasn’t on the menu. The staff didn’t hesitate and delivered exactly what I had in mind. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavours were spot on – fresh, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection. It’s rare to find a restaurant that’s not only accommodating but delivers such high quality. Highly recommend for anyone who loves great food and thoughtful service. I’ll definitely be back!
Popped in to BB after watching Notts’ last league game, it was about 6:00 so fairly quiet. The lady in charge and her staff were very friendly and helpful with food advice. The business have someone who regularly visits India for new recipes and ingredients so there are regular specials on offer. We skipped starters (except for poppadoms) and just had mains. The 4 of us had different dishes & all really enjoyed them. Good to see plenty meals that you wouldn’t usually find, like fish for example. I had a lamb dish - sorry I forget the name but it was the only dish on the menu with a “3” hotness rating. As the manageress told us, it was indeed hotter than your average Madras (which is my standard choice.) If I’m being picky, I’d suggest they could broaden the heat ratings from 1-5 and offer more in the heat range? There were plenty 1 & 2 ratings (mild & medium) but would be nice to have more options above medium. So maybe score this lamb dish as a 5, and show which mediums are 2, 3 & 4; say where 4 is a typical Madras heat? Anyway, I’d happily visit again and try more of the medium dishes!
A must try - The flavors are well-balanced, and the use of fresh spices truly sets the food apart. The service is friendly and attentive
Whether you’re dining in or ordering takeaway, Bombay Bridgford never disappoints us It’s no surprise that this restaurant has remained one of the best Indian eateries in Nottingham for so long. Highly recommended !
Christmas Day lunch, what a fabulous decision it was to do something different this year for Christmas lunch. Such a warm greeting when we arrived, and smiling attentive staff. Food was absolutely delicious, really good value for money, will definitely do this again next year.
